Renewal Memory Partners is Hiring a Companion/Home Health Aide Near Manhattan, NY

OVERVIEW

Are you a compassionate caregiver seeking a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in someone's life? We are in need of dedicated caregivers to provide 24/7 support for a client that requires close supervision and standby support due to progressing dementia and Parkinson's.

Responsibilities:

· Provide constant supervision to ensure the client's safety and well-being while they engage in daily activities.

· Offer companionship and engage the client in stimulating conversation to promote social interaction and emotional well-being.

· Assist with light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and organized environment for the client.

· Provide meal preparation assistance, ensuring that the client's dietary needs and preferences are met.

Desired Schedule: Close to or full 24/7 care, starting with one full-time caregiver for five days, with additional support for nights and other days.

Preferences: Male or female Home Health Aides (HHA) preferred. Filipino caregivers preferred but not required. Must be engaging, companion-like, and comfortable working in a household. A driver's license and insured driver status are advantageous.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing companionship to older adults and people with chronic health conditions in their homes (e.g., discussing current events, creating artwork, reviewing photo albums).
  • Providing compassionate, patient hands-on personal care support for ADLs, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and transfers.
  • Planning activities outside the home and accompanying clients to keep them engaged with the world (e.g., trips to museums, concerts, plays, or the park).
  • Escorting clients to doctors’ appointments.
  • Running errands for clients (e.g., grocery shopping, sundries).
  • Reminding clients to take their medications.
  • Doing light exercise with clients (e.g., helping with stretching routine).
  • Assisting clients in preparing meals.
  • Performing light housekeeping, such as dusting, tidying, and laundry.

Qualifications:

We welcome candidates with diverse backgrounds including the creative arts and healthcare fields. Our employment is selective. Strong candidates possess:

  • A valid HHA certificate in New York State
  • A passion for caring for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Prior experience working with this population is valued, but not required.
  • An accredited high school diploma, though we prefer candidates with college degrees or those currently attending colleges or graduate schools.
  • Deep empathy and patience.
  • Flexibility, reliability, and responsiveness.
  • Creativity and a positive, open-hearted approach.
  • Strong composure under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust-based relationships with clients and their families.
