ReMed, a Collage Rehabilitation Partner is looking for a Part Time Music Therapist to join our outstanding team in Paoli, PA. Collage Rehabilitation Partners is a growing organization dedicated to excellence, honesty and ethics in the treatment of our clients and each other. For more than 35 years, we’ve developed programs to meet the diverse needs of clients with moderate to severe traumatic and acquired brain injuries. We provide treatment for post-concussion syndrome, stroke, memory loss, neurobehavioral issues and accident or sports-related head injuries. Our CARF accredited, post acute residential, vocational and outpatient programs are offered in the Philadelphia, Pittsburgh regions of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Louisiana and Maryland, Georgia, North Carolina, Virgina, Texas, Utah, Colorado, and California.

24 hours a week- (3) 8 hour shifts- flexible on days. 

Responsibilities

Provide group and individual music therapy services to clients in collaboration with the treatment team. Specific areas of treatment may include but are not limited to combining music therapy theory and practice with psychodynamic and psychotherapeutic technique to address issues including self-awareness, adjustment to disability, conflict resolution, problem solving, coping skills, self-regulation/expression/esteem, meaningful engagement and socialization/peer interactions.

Essential Duties & Functions

  • Provides objective, integrative and holistic treatment.
  • Promotes a positive and safe environment for exploration, engagement, expression, interaction and inclusion.
  • Understands and facilitates the healing potential of creative and expressive experiences.
  • Demonstrates ability to support clients in difficult situations (e.g. refusal of activities, medications, and strategies).
  • Works directly with the client and provides minimum to maximum assistance and/or supervision to promote the client’s success in achieving identified treatment goals.
  • Completes therapy evaluation and interfaces with treatment team to set up initial treatment plan and establish priority treatment goals.
  • Develops and implements therapy services which meet the needs/goals of client, the program, interrelates with other disciplines and supports ReMed’s philosophy.
  • Develops and implements culturally sensitive recreational, leisure, health oriented, and avocational activities for individual clients and client groups within the residence.
  • Responsible for monitoring the clients treatment plan and progress towards goals; provides problem solving, conflict resolution and revision of goals and treatment plan as necessary.
  • Assess, develop, and monitor, as needed adaptive equipment and/or compensatory strategies based on the treatment and discharge plans.
  • Responsible for teaching other team members strategies needed to support the client’s treatment plan.
  • Assists RCM and team in discharge planning process, assessing and securing needed services, modifying strategies for discharge setting, and educating caregivers.
  • Participates in team meetings and/or provides necessary information and interfaces with treatment team to establish rehabilitation goals and coordinates treatment necessary to support client’s treatment plan.
  • Assist team in remaining focused on goals and discharge plan.
  • In collaboration with the RCM/Clinical Specialist/Director, identifies and consults with physicians and other health care providers outside of the primary treatment team as needed.
  • Supports client empowerment, success, growth, coping, productivity, engagement, individuality and control.
  • Supports a positive “life space”/environment and quality of life for clients.
  • Ensures consistent implementation of strategies through teaching team members, eliciting feedback from team members, and reviewing log notes.
  • Participates in problem solving with the team and supports the clinical team decision making process.
  • Complies with professional standards and state regulations regarding treatment.
  • Keeps current with professional certification/licensing requirements and participates in continuing education.
  • Keeps abreast of new developments, trends and treatment modalities in area of specialization.
  • Writes monthly treatment plan reports according to guidelines and time frames in the Goal Writing manual and documents therapy sessions on session notes as they occur.
  • Records the accurate date and length of each client contact or service in the program file or monthly billing sheet according to program guidelines.
  • Prioritizes tasks to balance direct client treatment, staff communication, program responsibilities and written documentation.

Qualifications

Completion of a Master’s degree in music therapy and board certification are required. Must be capable of performing a comprehensive initial evaluation to provide a treatment team with a thorough review of clients functional capabilities related to their discharge plan. Experience in treatment of neurologically related disorders in community based settings preferred. Excellent planning organizational, writing and time management skills required. Ability to communicate with families, professionals, and co-workers is a must.
