GENERAL DUTIES: Performs complex, highly accurate surveys requiring stringent data acquisition procedures, methods and techniques. Work involves planning field surveys, collecting field data, performing computations based on field data and notes, propagating the effects of errors, determining satellite orbits, preparation of computer graphics and publishing the results of the final survey data. Works under general supervision reporting to senior level survey technician.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential job functions include participation in survey work for gathering data to provide horizontal, vertical, astronomic, satellite, precise coordinates on aircraft or instrumentation, arena layout, sled track alignment, inertial navigation platforms or topographic surveys; assists with methods of project accomplishment and performs field measurements and observations; gathers control data, graphics, administrative materials, equipment and supplies in preparation to perform the survey project; computes satellite acquisition times; secures access to survey area; assists in resolving problems presented by the geographic location, climatic conditions and access to private property, etc., that may require deviation from the original plans and specifications, but critical to the success of the survey; constructs and/or climbs survey towers, stands or other special structures to facilitate field observations; assist senior level technicians with final report of survey data consisting of a computer general plot plan, topographic map or tabulated survey data in many coordinate systems and assists in maintaining a survey office with all necessary horizontal and vertical survey control data, in addition to a data base of all locally generated survey control.

OTHER DUTIES: Other functions may require housekeeping duties to assigned work area.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Incumbent must be able to read, write and communicate clearly, hold a Field Survey Technician certificate or an Associates of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Field Survey and have a minimum of two years’ experience in land and field survey, to include: geodetic surveying field, knowledgeable of the theories, techniques, concepts and principles of geodesy, mathematics, and physical sciences. Must have practical knowledge of and be able to operate computers with AUTO CAD and AD CADD civil/survey and GPS survey software, theodolites and accessories, satellite surveying equipment, electronic measuring equipment, levels and coordinate analyzing system.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Secret security clearance. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work environment consists of a wide range of outside environmental conditions including extreme heat, cold, dust and dirt.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical effort required consists of crawling, bending, stooping, and standing. Close hand and eye coordination is required in performing many varied tasks.
