Job Title: Landscape Design & Install Manager

Job Overview:

This position is responsible for effectively managing a variety of landscape enhancement projects. Design & install Managers generally work with the Client Management teams to assist with designing, quoting and then executing approved jobs. Design & install will lead teams that generate a minimum of $1M annually in enhancement revenue and are responsible for training and developing enhancement teams and ensuring a safe work environment. In some offices, Irrigation Management will also fall under the responsibility of the Design & install/Enhancement Manager. This includes scheduling, time review and monitoring revenue. This position reports to the Branch Manager.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Support company vision, policies, procedures, safety / training programs, perform accordingly and pass along to other employees.
  • Train employees in proper horticultural practices.
  • See that completed jobs reflect original design and client s expectations.
  • Communicate effectively with clients after the job is completed to ensure their expectations are met,
  • Inform supervisors of problems and changes concerning their properties in a pro-active, timely manner via phone, office meetings, site visits, weekly reports, etc.
  • See that client/supervisor s requests are responded to in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate the performance of crew leaders and crew members regularly, and recommend for advancement.
  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained and operated in a safe manner.
  • Work with Client Management and Operations Managers to identify enhancement opportunities and establish long range plans for sites.
  • Work with Business Development and Client Management team on front-end sales process to maximize enhancement/irrigation pipeline.
  • Assist Client Managers in designing and selling work to clients.
  • Provide alternative and creative solutions to problems.
  • Develop and maintain schedules for Enhancement/Irrigation crews on all jobs, coordinate manpower, equipment and materials in advance.
  • Monitor total hours worked by crew and services performed to ensure quality and profitability for each job completed.
  • Complete billing paperwork and update spreadsheets for revenue forecasting and tracking.
  • Monitor job cost reports regularly and report back to crew to increase productivity and job efficiency.
  • Provide accurate and timely paperwork flow from field to office.
  • Provide long and short term planning for maximum efficiency and goal forecasting.
  • Creating simple designs / sketches and estimating cost, plant list etc.

KPI s:

  • Crews working safely and efficiently in accordance with the Company standard.
  • Enhancement/Irrigation goals established for branch are met.
  • Quality jobs completed on time within the budgeted hours.
  • Crew leaders working at a high level with an emphasis on accountability.
  • Clients satisfied with the outcome of projects.
  • Client Management and other support teams are communicated with clearly and regularly.
  • Equipment is maintained at appropriate intervals and kept in good working order.
  • Critical field best practices are understood by all team members and followed on a consistent basis.
  • Employees are being developed in accordance with the appropriate HR processes.
  • Viewed as a motivated, thoughtful, willing, positive team member by others.
  • Teams demonstrate an adherence to company policy on proper use and care of equipment.
  • Safety inspections 100% complete and 90% pass rate or better.
  • Enhancement Sales of $1M or better.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School degree required. Associates or Bachelor s Degree desirable.
  • 2-4 years of experience as a supervisor/manager with proven ability to train, nurture and develop employees and determine leadership skills in others. General knowledge of irrigation systems & turf management programs.
  • Must have landscape design experience and capabilities with the ability to sell landscape enhancements and deal directly with customers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to schedule multiple projects, prioritize work and perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of accountability and responsibility for all activities of self and team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate to all levels of leadership, team members and clients both verbally and written. Strong presentation capabilities.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and trust when dealing with difficult, sensitive and confidential issues.
  • Strong working knowledge of computers with proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. Experience with Aspire a plus.
  • Travel required between client work sites, as well as other operational sites. Occasional travel to facilitate training may also be required.
  • Valid driver s license with a reasonably clean record.
