ReliabilityFirst Corporation is a regulator focused on the reliability and security of the electric grid. ReliabilityFirst’s mission is to preserve and enhance the reliability, security, and resilience of the Bulk Power System across 13 states and the District of Columbia. ReliabilityFirst is uniquely positioned to work closely with transmission, generation, and other power companies as well as the federal government to help identify and ensure the mitigation of operational risks and physical and cyber security threats to the electric grid. 

Purpose of Position: 

The Data Analytics Intern requires you to perform day-to-day activities associated with analyzing and maximizing the data sources and outputs available in the Analytic Services group; and to perform, organize and conduct analytical activities and projects to support the quantification of grid reliability. It is also desirable for this position to be responsible for the quality and timeliness of specific business deliverables. This position will also support and implement the policies and programs established by ReliabilityFirst.

Key Responsibilities: 

1. Ability to support Analytical activities such as SQL queries and coding.
2. Ability to support organizational activities associated with the Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence (BI) reports and dashboards, and others as needed.
3. Ability to support design and creation of database tables and views in SQL from predefined data sources. 
4. Ability to support Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes for the tables created above.
5. Ability to support unit testing including test plan creation, execution, and documentation in preparation for code review and migration/elevation.
 

Qualifications: 

1. Progress in pursuing bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science or Analytics field.
2. Computer skills: familiar with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Power Point. 
 

Desirable:

1. An understanding of or experience with any of various languages such as SQL, Python, R, and DAX.
2. Practical skills in Excel with knowledge of spreadsheet functionality including v-look-up and pivot tables.
3. An understanding of or experience with Power BI or any similar business intelligence tool.
4. An understanding of data manipulation, data analysis, database use, and mathematics.
