Position Description

Cost Accounting Manager ensures that costs for the company’s products and services are allocated according to corporate procedures and in compliance financial accounting standards. Oversees the cost control systems, establish and maintain standard cost calculations, and prepares inventory valuation reports. A Cost Accounting Manager gathers historical cost data (materials, labor, depreciation, operating expenses, etc.), to compare budgets with actual expenses.

Position Responsibilities

• Analyze and reconcile inventory transactions for accuracy and completeness in support of monthly financial reporting.
• Overseeing physical inventory counts and monthly cycle counts.
• Complete and reconcile Disease State, C> and NHA inventories monthly.
• Calculate Inventory reserve monthly based on aging inventory.
• Developing cost standards for materials and labor.
• Design and implement cost accounting standards for the LIMS systems.
• Review work order variances with the production team.
• Assist month-end close of general ledger.
• Work with outside auditing firm during annual audit.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned by management.
• Direct the development and implementation of accounting and operational procedures and processes.
• Analyze complex data and identify patterns, recommend actions, and measure outcomes.
• Develop and/or update accounting and operational process and procedures documentation around the inventory management and costing processes.
• Assists with month end close, as required.
• Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts across the organization.
• Assist with other accounting projects as assigned.

Position Qualifications

Essential:

• 5-8 years cost accounting experience required
• CMA or CPA required.
• B.S./B.A. in accounting or finance related field.
• Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
• Advanced competency in Microsoft Office and Accounting software packages.
• Excellent organizing abilities
• Great attention to detail
• Critical thinker with a high proficiency in math and figures and an analytical acumen
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent judgment

Education and/or Experience

• CMA or CPA required.
• B.S./B.A. in accounting or finance related field.
