Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana is Hiring a Major Gift Officer Near Indianapolis, IN

This is an exciting time to join The Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana (RHI), named Best Rehabilitation Hospital in Indiana in 2022 and 2023, provides quality rehabilitation services to those facing life-changing injuries or illness. We specialize in the areas of brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury and complex medical conditions. RHI is the only Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Model System in the state of Indiana and one of only 16 in the U.S. Our campus on the west side of Indianapolis specializes in inpatient and outpatient evidence-based, patient-centered therapy for ages 15 and older.

Reporting to the CEO of the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana, the MajorGifts Officer will play a vital role in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift donors for The Rehabilitation Hospital network. The Gifts Officer will develop strategies and solicitation plans for defined prospects who are able to make outright and/or planned gifts primarily at the six and seven-figure levels.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Assist the CEO in executing campaign and major donor related events.
  • Ensure consistent and appropriate contact, facilitate or make solicitations, and ensure effective stewardship.
  • Develop strategies to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donor prospects.
  • Maintain a portfolio of Major Giving donors/prospects.
  • Assist in identification and qualification of new prospects and donors.
  • Coordinate virtual and in-person meetings to cultivate donor and prospect relationships.
  • Lead the annual appeal and other individual giving campaigns.
  • Prepare written materials such as proposals, solicitations, reports, and appeal letters.
  • Record and report key metrics through use of internal tracking systems.
  • Provide customer service for donors as a primary point of contact.
  • Assist with proposal/concept development, including management, writing, and ensuring high quality, successful submissions to individual and private foundation donors.
  • Plan for meetings with major donors, including scheduling with all parties involved and keeping the momentum for arranging meetings with donors.

MAJOR GIFTS PORTFOLIO WORK:

  • Carry a defined portfolio of prospects capable of making a major gift commitment to RHI, with a special focus on prospects capable of gifts of six and seven figures.
  • Meet defined donor and prospect interaction metrics that will be determined in conjunction with the CEO. Such metrics include, but are not limited to, number of prospect visits and number of gift solicitations.
  • Work closely to develop donor and prospect fundraising strategies in collaboration with the CEO, RHI leadership, members of the Board of Trustees, and other key stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and reports to a variety of audiences to increase awareness of RHI.

EDUCATION/DEGREE

  • Required: Bachelor's degree
  • Preferred: Master's degree

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • 5-7 years of major gifts fundraising experience, preferably in a hospital/healthcare setting, with proven success in raising gift commitments of six figures or more.
  • Demonstrable track record of successful fundraising activities.
  • Proven success in gift closure of at least $500k-$1 million
  • Proven ability to motivate, engage, and work with high-value prospects and donors, volunteers, senior staff, and similar constituencies in a collaborative manner.
  • Ability to learn and easily explain often-complex medical conditions, treatments, and related terminology.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rule a plus.
  • Experienced in NEON, Raiser's Edge, Blackbaud CRM.

SKILLS

  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office technology and proven experience using a fundraising/constituent management database, e.g., NEON, Raiser's Edge, Blackbaud CRM.
  • Proven ability to develop strong and meaningful relationships with key internal and external constituencies.
  • Problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Professionalism, resourcefulness, flexibility, a learning mindset, trustworthiness, and the ability to adhere to confidentiality guidelines.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong adherence to patient privacy, confidentiality, and other hospital network protocols.

Hours: Monday-Friday 8-5, in-person and remote
