The ED Social Worker Role:

This position will work independently, conducting diagnostic assessment, treatment planning and referrals, and determining clinical interventions to patients and families at Regions Hospital. This position will work independently and as part of a team, working effectively with various internal and external partners, patients, families, and physicians to facilitate patient care. The social worker provides crisis intervention, education, and supportive therapies as appropriate within the Emergency Department setting. They work develop a safe transition/discharge plan to the community.

Job Qualifications:

Required:

• Education: MSW– Masters of Social Work.
• LICSW Licensure - MN Board of Social Work
• 2 or more years of social work experience in mental health setting and/or health care setting.

Preferred:

• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of values, principles and methodologies of social work.
• Ability to evaluate quickly with a high degree of accuracy the level of lethality and risk in suicidal/homicidal patients.
• Ability to integrate social, medical and psychotherapeutic data in order to diagnose, form a treatment plan and to provide appropriate crisis intervention and psychotherapy.
• Experience working with diverse populations
• Knowledge of county, state and federal regulations regarding healthcare funding, civil commitments, child abuse, vulnerable adults, etc.
• Familiarity with substance use disorders and available resources.
• Knowledge of community resources.
