JOB SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is a member of the Anesthesia care team and, under the supervision of an anesthesiologist or other qualified physician, participating in rendering anesthetic services. The CRNA is responsible for all activities involving direct patient care such as surgical anesthesia and pain management and those which involve indirect patient care such as care of and ordering anesthesia equipment, supplies, and other duties deemed necessary.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse program; Completion of accredited Nurse Anesthesia program; Completion of preparation at the master’s or doctoral level in a nursing specialty. A master’s degree or higher is not required if:
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION: Current and unrestricted APN CRNA and RN licensure in the State of Tennessee, board certification through the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA), DEA, and current malpractice coverage. An original typed AHA BLS Card is also required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Constant walking, standing; lifting and positioning patients/equipment; exposure to infectious agents. Visual acuity is needed to access color changes. Heavy Work - Exerting up to 150 pounds of force occasionally.
