I. GENERAL SUMMARY:
A charge poster is responsible for carefully reviewing all information given by the doctor or staff. This information can include demographics, patient billing, and insurance information. The job of a charge poster improves services and operations by productively and efficiently distributing this data. Review and retain hospital or office records in order to compute fees and charges due. Input, review, and prepare patient and insurance data. Research and verify accuracy of billing data.
II. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
A. Verify patient registration - Making any updates or changes to accounts.
B. Enter daily fee slips for your assigned doctor - Verifying all information in EMR system and making corrections to fee slips prior to posting charges.
C. Enter surgery charges scheduled or trauma – Informing phone room, work comp, and /or auto departments of any information we find with the hospital.
D. Keep daily log for fee slips & surgeries entered.
E. Tackling insurance information entry errors made in the system.
F. Update surgery spreadsheets.
