Job Summary and Qualifications

Provide leadership and management responsibility to include: Development and maintenance of effective systems to ensure safe and sanitary food production operations ensuring meals are prepared and delivered in accordance with physician orders as well as ensuring effective clinical nutrition care. Develops and implements policies and procedures regarding clinical care of patients and operational policies of the department. Develops and maintains the patient menu. Assumes responsibility for quality control programs, regulatory compliance, and budget projections for areas of responsibility.

What qualifications you will need:
  • Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration; or Certified Dietary Manager
  • 1 year in a Management Role in Nutrition Services required, 3 years in a leadership role preferred
  • BS in Food and/or Nutrition Science, Health Science, or Associate Degree in Food or Institutional Management or Business Administration Required
  • Masters in Food and/or Nutrition Science, Health Science preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking ability, plus verbal and written communication skills. Ability to remain calm in critical situations. Superior interpersonal skills, prioritization skills, attention to detail, financial and budgeting knowledge, safety and sanitation knowledge, organizational skills, cost management and policy and regulatory compliance knowledge
  • Basic budget knowledge and management skills. Emphasis on high quality clinical food service operations

Regional Medical Center of San Jose is a 264 bed acute care hospital with a Level II Trauma Center. The hospital provides a host of technologically advanced services including Cardiovascular, Neuro, Orthopedic, Bariatric and General Surgery, Interventional Pulmonology and services for Women.
