Course: GEOG 110: Geography of the United States and Canada (3credit hours)

This course is both anintroduction to the discipline of geography and a survey of regions from theUnited States and Canada. This regional survey will include a review ofphysical features, culture, historic settlement and population patterns,economic geography, urbanization, and trends in environmental impact. Theinstructor will utilize a recently published, regionally themed textbook suchas A Regional Geography of the United States and Canada, 2nd Edition, byBenton-Short, Short, and Mayda (2019) or Regional Geography of the UnitedStates and Canada, 5th Edition by Montello, Michael, Applegarth and McKnight(2021). Supplemental readings are expected.
There are noprerequisites for the course, which is capped at 25 and enrolls students from awide variety of majors. A minimum of a master’s degree in geography and arecord of past teaching experience at the university level is required.
