University of PIttsburgh Medical Center is Hiring a Research Project Assistant WPI - The 15104 Seniors Project Near Braddock, PA

The 15104 Seniors Project research study is a health and aging study located in Braddock with participants ages 65 and over from the 15104 zip code. We complete outreach, recruitment, and interviews of participants 65 years and older. Interviews take place in the Braddock office or at participant homes in the 15104 zip code.

This position is grant funded.

Responsibilities:

* Conduct 2-3 home assessments per week according to research guidelines, which include accuracy and competency in:

* obtaining informed consent

* collecting data

* performing physical/neurological examination under supervision of the Research Coordinator

* conducting neuropsychological testing

* following research protocol for cash participant payments

* Schedule appointments according to protocol.

* Obtain blood samples and strictly adhere to Universal Precaution standards

* Keep retention of participants a priority.

* Maintain and respect participant confidentiality at all times.

* Ensure study compliance and best research practices in accordance with the protocol and University/Federal guidelines and laws.

* Handle clinical issues that arise from the assessments in a sensitive, professional manner, and report details to appropriate personnel.

* Complete accurate coding, scoring, and Clinical Dementia Rating for each subject preferably on the same day as visit or at least within 1-2 days of the visit.

* Conduct follow-up phone calls according to research guidelines.

* Participate in consensus conferences with other Research Associates.

* Maintain accurate records/logs of work completed.

* Communicate effectively with Research Coordinator, Administrative Assistant, and Oakland staff

* Demonstrate ability to work as a team member.

* Demonstrate motivation, judgment and initiative appropriately.

* Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.

* Participate in community events.

* Recruitment of new participants for the study.

Qualifications:

* Bachelors degree required preferably in psychology, neuroscience, sociology, or related research field.

* Minimum of two years of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.

* Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.

* Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.

* Prior supervisory and/or project management experience preferred.

* Comfortable being out in the community.

* Sales experience preferred.

* Act 34

* Driver's License

* Automotive Insurance
