Shift/Pay Rate: Monday – Friday w/ some Saturdays (5am to 3:30pm): $26 - $28/hour (Based on Experience)

Responsibilities:

• Study effects of various methods of processing, preservation, and packaging on composition and properties of foods such as color, texture, aroma, taste, shelf life, and nutritive content
• Maintain proper labeling, handling, storage, and disposal of microbiological waste
• Manage time and tasks efficiently
• Perform quality control tests in food processing, products, and cosmetics
• Analyze raw materials and finished products, using standard laboratory instruments such as GC, ICP, FTIR, and other instruments
• Record test data, applying statistical quality control procedures
• Evaluate data and write reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards
• Maintain laboratory records, samples, and equipment
• Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability
• Set up and perform destructive and nondestructive test on materials or products to measure performance and material characteristics
• Analyze raw materials, intermediate, and finished products following company specifications and perform required analysis such as organoleptic evaluation, pH, moisture, do other test such as titration, disintegration, and others
• Analyze cosmetic bulk materials and provide adjustments of batches when necessary
• Approve/reject raw materials, intermediate, and finished products based upon company specifications
• Log on incoming samples of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products in log book and e-files
• Prepare test samples for microbiological analyses utilizing aseptic techniques
• Prepares and sterilizes standard microbiological cultural media.
• Perform serial dilutions and enumerate targeted microorganisms following standard operating procedures
• Skillfully use all standard microbiological techniques (plating, streaking, pouring, diluting, autoclaving, etc.)
• Count, calculate, and report test results
• Detect and confirm pathogenic microorganisms that may cause foodborne illness using selective media agar
• Generate pass/fail decisions for analyzed products according to the pre-established specification limits
• Accurately document and maintain necessary paper and electronic data records
• Maintain and update the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on Microbiological methods
• Operate general laboratory equipment such as an autoclave, pipet machine, incubator, etc.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in scientific discipline or a minimum 2 - 5 years of experience
• Experience with problem solving
• Computer skills
• Advanced mathematical concepts
• Stand up to 10 hours during shift and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Adhere to the safety protocols
• Stable work history
• Pass background check and drug screen

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
