Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer
Scope of role:
Regal Rexnord is looking for an energetic, self-motivated Firmware Engineer to join our Perceptiv Digital Solutions Team, focused on developing our world-class IoT architecture. This individual will leverage their embedded firmware knowledge to architect, develop, test, release, and maintain firmware implemented on our next generation gateway. This individual will have the ability to work in an autonomous fashion while taking ownership over our next generation system. This role will be pivotal in making Regal Rexnord IIoT devices obtain the scalability and sound programming foundation our customers expect.
Responsibilities

• Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug Linux modules on our next generation gateway.
• Interface with the software development team in India
• Assist test engineers in developing test plans to validate new features
• Write new features and modify modules on top of a Linux Ubuntu OS.
• Support architecture design of connected ecosystem, including wireless technology, technical partners, and roadmap planning.
• Participate in creation of reviews of, documents, designs, code, test cases, and user documentation.
• Perform unit or functional testing of developed products to ensure correct operation per functional requirements and compatibility with other components in the system.
• Interact directly with Product Management to assure delivering desired functionality per the product requirements.
• Strong accountability to assignments, keeping in mind the guiding principles; Customer Focus, Sense of Urgency, Performance to schedule and Quality.
• Develop using an Agile process while conducting pull request code reviews

Key Qualifications (Must haves)

• BS/MS Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• 7 years of previous development experience
• Proficiency with Linux application layer development.
• Strong C embedded development skills.
• Experience in multi-threaded and/or embedded systems programming.
• Experience with IoT operating systems, multi-container Docker applications, and SSH security
• Experience with RTOS development.
• Experience developing firmware in a Linux environment
• Git version control
• Bluetooth (BLE) v5.x connections, pairing (security).
• Experience with C language

Nice to have (Bonus)

• Experience with Cellular and AT commands
• Knowledge of IoT Gateway device hardware and remote maintenance.
• Experience interfacing with Allen Bradley, Siemens, and/or Modicon PLCs.
• Knowledge of OPC UA.
• MQTT/AMQP messaging.
• Experience working in an Agile lifecycle and Scrum process.
