The mission of Refresh Recovery Residences is to help people in recovery by providing them with a safe and protective overnight structured community.

Position: Behavioral Health Technician | Monmouth Junction, NJ

We are now seeking Behavioral Health technicians that share our passion for helping people. The Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for providing daily resident monitoring, guidance, and education, promoting a safe, secure, and supportive milieu environment, and participating in the milieu, care program, and community. The Behavioral Health Technician will provide crisis intervention and milieu management as indicated, and work as a member of the team under the supervision of the Recovery Home Supervisor. 

We are hiring for the following shifts:

  • First shift 7am-330pm
  • Overnight / Midnight - 8:30AM $18-$19 an hour
  • 2nd Shift / 3:30PM - 12:00AM $17-$18 an hour 

Job Duties:

  • The Behavioral Health Technician establishes relationships with residents that support their recovery
  • Provides individual and resident support through group monitoring
  • The Behavioral Health Technician attends required group supervision with the Recovery Home Supervisor
  • Collaborates with the team primarily to plan and coordinate care based on resident’s needs; also utilizes the shift report as a source of information
  • The Behavioral Health Technician completes all required documentation according to policies and procedures and ensures that daily document includes interventions the resident has utilized toward meeting their care goals.
  • The Behavioral Health Technician maintains resident safety by appropriate implementation of safety procedures and precautions
  • Completes safety rounds and documentation in real-time
  • The Behavioral Health Technician obtains the resident's drug/alcohol levels via UA and BA
  • Performs body checks and inventories
  • The Behavioral Health Technician performs room inspections
  • Facilitates resident transitions throughout the shift
  • The Behavioral Health Technician provides activity and group facilitation when indicated
  • Implements resident interventions
  • The Behavioral Health Technician identifies the precursors of potential crisis and unsafe client behavior and intervenes to de-escalate clients utilizing the least restrictive means of intervention
  • Reports changes in resident status to supervisor when necessary
  • The Behavioral Health Technician develops knowledge of chemical dependency and other relevant issues and demonstrates competency in providing and implementing resident care
  • Drives clients to and from appointments
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Must have a clean driving record and valid driver's license
  • Experience in healthcare in direct provision of care to patients
  • Required to frequently stand, stoop, bend, sit, walk, or drive for extended periods
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs
  • Occasionally required to lift or move objects more than 40lbs and perform manual holds
  • Must have visual, hearing, and learning capabilities to perform the essential functions
  • Knowledge of chemical dependency and other DSM-V diagnoses and demonstrates competency in providing and implementing resident care
  • Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines as well as be flexible and dependable
  • 1 – 2 years of experience in mental health, particularly with substance abuse preferred
