The Infection Preventionist Assistant will assist the infection preventionist in implementing and maintaining effective infection control programs. The expertise and attention to detail will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients, visitors, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist the infection preventionist in developing and implementing infection control policies and procedures
• Conduct regular rounds on all patient care units to observe and assess compliance with infection control practices
• Collect and analyze infection data, and generate reports to identify trends and areas for improvement
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to educate and train staff on proper infection control practices
• Assist in investigating any potential infections, outbreaks, or clusters, and take appropriate action to control the spread of infections
• Monitor and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal infection control regulations and guidelines
• Participate in infection control committees and other related meetings, providing input and recommendations as needed
• Assist in the development and maintenance of infection control surveillance systems and databases

• Knowledge of infection control practices, standards, and guidelines, including those from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO)
• Familiarity with surveillance systems and data analysis
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively educate and train staff on infection control practices
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications
