Redwood Trust is Hiring a Special Assets Manager Near Irvine, CA

 
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced candidate for our Special Assets team. The candidate will be responsible for working on the resolution of distressed or non-performing commercial mortgage loans and assets.
Please Note: This role may be filled at an Analyst, Associate, or VP Level

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Include the following but not limited to, other duties may be assigned.

  1. Assist the Special Assets team in managing a portfolio of distressed or non-performing commercial mortgage loans and assets, ensuring effective resolution and mitigation of credit risk.
  2. Develop and implement comprehensive strategies and action plans for resolving troubled assets, including loan modifications, restructuring, forbearance agreements, and asset disposition.
  3. Conduct thorough financial analysis, risk assessments, and valuation reviews of troubled assets to evaluate potential recovery options and minimize losses.
  4. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including senior management, loan origination teams, legal counsel, and external partners, to develop and execute workout strategies aligned with business objectives.
  5. Oversee the negotiation and documentation of workout agreements and legal settlements with borrowers, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  6. Monitor and track the performance of troubled assets, analyze trends, and prepare regular reports and updates for senior management and stakeholders.
  7. Build and maintain relationships with external parties, including borrowers, asset managers, brokers, and legal advisors, to facilitate asset management and resolution efforts.
  8. May supervise a team of Asset Management Associates or Analysts, if filled at VP level

Minimum Requirements: The responsibilities listed below are required. Accommodations may be made to enable the individual with disabilities to ensure the individual can perform the essential functions and responsibilities.

  1. Bachelor's degree in finance, real estate, business administration, or a related field; Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA, CCIM) preferred.
  2. Experience (Analyst 3 years, Associate 5 years, VP 7 years) in commercial real estate finance, asset management, loan workout, or a related field, with a proven track record of successfully managing distressed assets
  3. Strong understanding of commercial mortgage lending, loan structuring, underwriting principles, and legal documentation.
  4. Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  5. Proficiency in financial modeling, Microsoft Excel, and other relevant software applications.
  6. Thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to commercial real estate lending and asset management activities.

A reasonable estimate of the base compensation range for this role is $65K - $150K annually bonus and generous benefits). The actual salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, geographic location, training, licensure and certification, and other factors. We also offer a competitive benefit package including discretionary corporate bonus program, multiple health plans, STD and LTD options, company sponsored life insurance, fitness reimbursement, paid parental leave, time to volunteer, Paid Time off, ESPP, and 401K matching.
