This position is full-time and remote Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with an hour break, but flexibility is available based on coverage.

Purpose of Your Work:

As a Staff Software Engineer working within Redwood Logistics (one of our entities), you will be responsible for participation in the design and evolution of Redwood's software core architectural and technical stacks with a team focused on collaborative decision making. This includes evolution of the core architectural pieces of a multi-application enterprise software portfolio. Daily tasks include reviewing developer code for architectural and technical standards; providing guidance to product and engineering team members; collaborating with the staff engineering team responsible for evolving the cloud architecture, and developing software applications with a focus on platform, modernization, and proof of concepts. Additionally, you will work within a council team discussing and collaboratively making technology and design decisions; and help present these principles and concepts to the engineering team. This position is for a hands-on software developer who possesses exceptional communication skills, essential for executing projects and leading other engineering team members. Collaboration through the use of diagramming, written documentation, mentoring, and peer reviews is fundamental to this role.

How You Make a Difference Everyday:

• Develop and uphold software standards by creating comprehensive documentation, providing clear guidance, and developing tools, templates, and frameworks. Continuously explore new technologies and strategies through the creation of proof of concepts (POCs).
• Work directly with software engineering and product teams to develop solutions to complex business problems with a keen eye on how technologies can deliver solutions
• Optimize Azure resources for performance, cost, and security
• Responsible for the full life-cycle development for Redwood’s core framework tools and helping to evolve it with a combined goal to meet complex business needs
• Act as subject matter expert for architecture and tech stack standards
• Participate in code and standardization reviews for core and business facing applications
• Monitor cloud environments, implement disaster recovery plans, and ensure high availability and resilience of applications
• Stay up-to-date with Azure services, tools, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of internal engineering standards, guidelines, and procedures

You’ve Got This?

• A minimum of 5 years of development experience across a variety of projects and applications
• Comprehensive understanding of database technologies, including both SQL and No-SQL
• Familiarity with multiple architectural designs, including domain-driven design, event-driven design, microservices, and others
• Strong experience in cloud technologies, with a preference for Azure, including serverless computing, app services, functions/lambdas, managed databases, and event hubs
• Additional skills in Snowflake, Python, and R are highly regarded
• Hold a BA/BS or higher degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or a related technical field
• Excellent communication skills, capable of translating business requirements into technical solutions for implementation by agile development teams
• Availability to travel to the main office as required, typically a couple times per quarter, for user collaboration sessions and team-based activities
