Registered Nurse Consultant- Northern California

POSITION : Registered Nurse - Northern California
LOCATION : Sacramento, CA/ Orangevale, CA/ Citrus Heights, CA/ Antelope, CA/ Carmichael, CA / Vacaville, CA/ Santa Rosa, CA
ANNUAL SALARY : $50.00 - $60.00 an hour
HOURS : Part-time consultant

JOB SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse ensures the residents and participants health needs are met by supervising or directly administering medications, performing injections and g-tube insertions. This position is responsible to monitor and observe any changes to behaviors and conditions in order to maintain the well-being of the individual. To serve as an advocate and support daily living needs and goals per the Individual Program plan.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Capable of in-person support.
  • Administer medications to individuals and follow the five rights for verification purposes
  • Attend residents’ doctor appointments and address any concerns and changes with the attending physician
  • Audit all medications during a new medication cycle and check the eight rights for verification
  • Observe/perform g-tube insertions for feeding to individuals, as necessary
  • Observe/perform intramuscular injections when necessary
  • Evaluate residents’ and participants’ level of consciousness, neurological factors, and whether they are responsive and oriented post seizure and/or any traumatic episodes
  • Complete and update client notes system on a daily basis. Observe and report any unusual behaviors and injuries so both Behavior Consultant and Administrator are fully informed
  • Development of Restricted Health Care Plans, liaison with Doctors, and training staff on RHP's and monitor and ensure RHP's are followed
  • Attend all transition meetings, IPP's, Quarterly meetings and Clinical staffing meetings
  • Represent PC at all Regional Center / Client meetings
  • Perform basic physical review such as checking for vital signs, (understanding normal and abnormal measures) and head to toe assessments
  • Participate in community outing events with the individuals such as hiking, going to the beach, and other leisure activities
  • Provide training to LVN, LPT, DSP and other staff
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

  • Associate or Bachelors Degree
  • NCLEX Valid Registered Nurse License 
  • DSP I and DSP II certificates.
  • CPR/FA and CPI certification.

Minimum Experience

  • 3 years experience as a Registered Nurse in a residential care facility or similar field.
  • 1 year experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities
