Summary
Redwire - Longmont, CO, has an opportunity for a Test Engineering Technician, Level 5. This role will be responsible for Environmental testing and test equipment in our Longmont, CO facility, as well as participating in offsite testing at an environmental testing vendor supporting Redwire hardware. We are building active and passive RF systems for new space-based communications architectures. You will interface with the project, design, and operations teams to assist in the technical development of the testing demand.
Responsibilities
  • Perform environmental testing of aerospace mechanisms using established procedures. Tests include static load, thermal vacuum, benchtop operation, separation, shock, and vibration
  • Operate spaceflight hardware and test fixtures using data acquisition system and established procedures
  • Attach and remove components on spaceflight hardware
  • Inspect mechanical and electrical components after test completion
  • Perform maintenance on test fixtures
  • Idea generation of potential process improvements
  • Assist with non-conformance investigations
  • Devises testing plans, methods, and equipment to assure reliability of product in conjunction with product design and specifications
  • Develops test plans, scenarios, functional tests, regression tests, and dynamic tests
  • Develop testing procedures, including scripted testing automation
  • Leads engineering design review efforts
  • Responsible for testing all customer deliverable hardware and for special tests that cannot be performed in the test area
  • Drives failure analysis efforts including all documentation, technical analysis, instruction, and customer interaction
  • Plans and arranges the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices
  • Provides test area and facility with parameters for testing and specifies tests to be performed
Ideal Experience
  • Bachelors in related field with a minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience. Willing to consider a two-year technical degree/program and 8 to 10 years of applicable experience in lieu of degree
  • Experience with common aerospace assembly and inspection tools. e.g. torque wrenches, load cells, feeler gauges, calipers, multimeters
  • Ability to debug and deduce digital design issues with use of lab tools such as bench supplies, scopes, and logic analyzers
  • Experience with environmental testing
  • Experience with quality management systems such as AS9100
  • Prior experience and ability to work under a microscope, handling small parts such as fasteners as small as #0-80
  • Some limited travel may be required
Desired Skills
  • Experience assisting with writing technical work instructions related to Environmental Testing (Thermal, TVAC, Vibe, antenna and RF testing)
  • 10 years of experience using electronics equipment (e.g. DMMs, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, power supplies, DAQs, etc.)
  • Ability to provide intuitive and timely solutions for immediate prototype production
  • Strong technical capability and mechanical inclination, with ability to follow and execute procedures
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as autonomously
  • Possess strong problem solving and communication abilities
  • High standard of quality workmanship
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities, attention to detail and self-motivated
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Has experience working in an Aerospace cleanroom environment
  • Experiencing with all aspects of microwave testing and test equipment
  • Understanding of advanced electronic circuitry
  • Capacity to comply with the federally mandated requirements of U.S. export control laws
  • J-STD or NASA soldering with space addendum certified
  • IPC or NASA harnessing certified

Pay Rate

$40.00 - $52.00 per hour

Redwire determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index, in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.
For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. Salaries will be based on the applicant's level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will receive higher pay.
