About the Opportunity:
A very positive, courteous, friendly, and warm disposition is essential to this vital role. In this position, the Licensed Practical Nurse will often interact with Staff Members, Residents and their families, other department managers, vendors, and other professionals and should therefore be able to communicate effectively
What will you do:
· Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques; annotates time and amount on patient charts. Knowledge of common action, usual dosage and side effects
· Responsible for documentation of patient condition; records in the clinical record and reports all observed symptoms, reactions, treatments and changes in the patient’s condition.
· Observes patient’s conditions and reaction to drugs, treatments and significant incidents
· Takes resident’s vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assesses condition of resident
· Responds to live-saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures and protocol
· Examines food trays for prescribed diet and sets up/feeds patients as needed
· Records food and fluid intake/output when ordered by MD.
· Follows up with residents, family and/or physician offices on lab results, including scheduling additional tests
· Coordinates referrals/appointments for patients and physician offices
· Obtains, carries out and follows physician orders.
· Orients new admissions and personnel to unit.
· Manages nursing unit which includes planning daily and/or weekly work assignments and breaks. Ensures adequate staffing and directs duties of CNAs.
