Position Profile:

The Process Improvement Engineer develops, maintains, and improves operations of Red Monkey Foods’ production facilities. They develop recommendations for and processes to drive improved efficiencies and production capability. The position is responsible for project management of equipment on-boarding, install, qualification, validation, and implementation including the use of lean principles. This position will deliver critical process simplification that helps to ensure operational scaling with proactive thinking in place while reducing business risk and ensuring long-term sustainability and reliability. Recommendations include design and process flow that comply with good manufacturing practices and sanitary design. 

Job Accountabilities and Duties:

  • Develops recommendations for process improvement. Oversees the development of processes including overall management and communicates changes. Lead process improvement projects and problem-solving events with cross-functional teams’ participation to determine root cause for problems that occur and implement sustainable, reliable long-term solutions. Performs Factory Acceptance Tests for new equipment, products, packaging and creates SOPs, work instructions, on-point lessons, training matrices, process mapping, flowcharts, reports, etc. Understands the Commissioning, Qualification, Verification (CQV) process for new equipment. Apply reliability expertise to stabilize and improve the operation, driving variation down and seeking improved efficiency through capital, procedural, and operational improvements in both planned and unplanned downtime areas. Provides proactive suggestions for improvements for cost reductions, efficiencies, and process improvements to Plant Leadership on a regular basis. Analytical troubleshooting and problem solving. 

  • Project Management. Assists Plant Leadership in the development of capital projects and facilitates or leads (as necessary), the management of projects to execute installation of capital machinery and equipment. Assists in the development of the project plan and engages project stakeholders throughout project life. Assists in the development of project budgets and recommendations for action to present to leadership team. Effectively engages with suppliers, including qualifying equipment, establishing installation programs, and training. Ensures training is developed and provided for operators, maintenance team, and other relevant personnel as part of project implementation. Actively involved in start-up and troubleshooting of installed equipment and machinery. Understand effective change management tools to ensure adoption and buy-in of stakeholders and associates. 

  • Teamwork and Collaboration. Acts as a key member of the Plant Team. Actively engages in plant leadership meetings and provides timely feedback to Plant Leadership Team. May provide and/or receive input from across functional boundaries. Understands organizational mesh points and potential synergies. Integrates team efforts across business segments and channels. Understands available resources, both in the Plant and outside of the Plant and utilizes those resources when appropriate.

  • Leadership. Acts with integrity. Treats others with dignity and respect. Models behavior that is consistent with Red Monkey Foods’ Values. Delivers on commitments and deadlines and holds others accountable. Provides functional leadership to all departments. Acts as a responsible advocate for regulatory requirements and Employee Safety. Understands the importance of compliance and reports any and all observations of non-compliance.

  • Communication. Effectively communicates with all levels of the organization. Demonstrates excellent presentation, oral, and written communication skills, including facilitating and giving presentations. Communicates effectively and professionally to both internal and external parties using appropriate methods and technology. Executes outstanding customer communication and relationship building techniques.

  • Demonstrated Business Acumen. Understands cause and effect relationships with regard to variables that impact the business viability of the organization.

Incumbent Profile:

Education and Experience

  • 2 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing or food manufacturing operations role

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, industrial, or mechanical engineering or Operations Management preferred. 

  • Familiar with Lean/Six Sigma manufacturing principles

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Ability to use statistical data to conduct assessments and evaluate to measure progress. 

  • Ability to influence without direct authority. 

  • Effective presentation and communication skills, both oral and written

  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of engineering processes in manufacturing facilities. 

  • Must be innovative, performance, and quality driven.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a results-oriented, challenging environment.

  • Effective communication at all levels of the organization 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or relevant software packages

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. occasionally.

  • This role may require off-shift and weekend work.

  • This role may require some travel (less than 5%)
