IDGis hiring for a Communications Intern for June 2024-August 2024. This paid,part-time position which will require a minimum of 24 hours per week. IDG'sinternship program is open to currently enrolled students in undergraduate andgraduate programs. Individuals who have already graduated are also eligible.
Weare looking for a Communications Intern with a passion for communications withan interest in international development. The Communications Intern will be anintegral part of the Communications team, focusing on online content, websitemanagement, administration, and supporting design deliverables for a quicklygrowing international development firm. The Communications Intern will reportdirectly to IDG’s Communications and Events Manager.
Writing will be an integral part of this position. Pleaseinclude at least two writing samples in your application and a graphic designsample (i.e. social media graphic, flyer, infographic, etc.)
Location: Arlington,VA / Remote
Key Responsibilities:
·Communicate across project teams and source internaland public information to draft social media copy for Facebook and Twitter.Manage social media content calendar.
·Support website maintenance, such as updates toproject pages.
·Provide graphic design support to corporate andproject communications requests. A keen eye for design and familiarity usingCanva and/or Adobe editing products (Illustrator, InDesign, or Photoshop).
·Support internal and external corporatecommunications projects, such as newsletters, announcements, etc.
·Support administrative tasks, such as attendingrelevant meetings, note-taking, and drafting communications-related payment forms.
·Support communications-related ad hoc requests assignedby Communications and Events Manager
·Research current international and economicdevelopment happenings to connect IDG's work to timely and/or trending topicson social media.
·Support documentation and tracking of eventinformation to support knowledge management tool
Qualifications:
·Pursuing a bachelor/graduate degree in arelated field of study. Recent graduates are also eligible. Humanities orliberal arts degree preferred.
·Experience managing social media platforms andmarketing tools like LinkedIn, Twitter, and Loomly.
·Experience using WordPress and supportingwebsite preferred.
·Prior experience creating digital visualcontent is required.
·Demonstrated experience using design softwaresuch as Canva and/or Adobe editing products (Illustrator, InDesign, orPhotoshop).
·Familiarity with AP or Chicago Style orexperience editing with style guides.
·Excellent written and verbal communicationsskills, including experience with copyediting and understanding and condensingcomplex information into quick summaries
·Ability to work well individually and in ateam in a very diverse and multicultural organization in remote and in-personsettings.
·Computer proficiency in Microsoft Officeprograms (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and Gmail.
·Meticulous eye for detail and keen eye for design
·Must be organized and detail-oriented.
·Demonstrated experience in communications.
·Knowledge of international development orcurrent affairs is appreciated.
