We provide virtual CFO, accounting & bookkeeping, tax strategy & filing, tax controversy & resolution, and fraud & forensic investigation services to business and individual clients.

We are seeking a U.S. based Bookkeeper to join our growing team to help drive this mission forward. You will be responsible for servicing sixty to eighty small business clients with timely, accurate, and thorough service each month.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Bookkeeping: Process monthly bookkeeping and monthly/quarterly review engagements for a book of 60-80 clients
  • Additional Services: Perform and/or assist with additional services for clients, including sales and use tax filings, 1099s, business property tax returns, catch-up and clean-up work, payroll, and bill pay
  • Client Experience: Build long-lasting working relationships with clients with your energy, effort, warmth, and demonstrated desire to be of service
  • Continuous Improvement: Actively contribute ideas for internal process improvements that create efficiencies for accounting and bookkeeping-related projects and an optimal client experience

Activity Summary

Fully process monthly bookkeeping engagements within 1-3 days of client reporting information:

  • Obtain and review information required for monthly bookkeeping 
  • Prepare client accounting data, including categorizing, coding, and data entry
  • Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan statements
  • Prepare journal entries and adjusting entries
  • Analyze and/or reconcile balance sheet accounts
  • Analyze and/or reconcile expense accounts for payroll and depreciation
  • Maintain subsidiary records for fixed assets, loan repayments, and other accounts as necessary
  • Prepare and maintain workpapers as directed by management to create clear, easy to follow documentation of your work 
  • Generate monthly financial reports for clients
  • Submit completed work to manager for quality control review and incorporate feedback to completion

Prepare and/or assist with additional services for clients as needed:

  • Prepare 1099s, sales & use tax returns, and business property tax returns
  • Set up and run payroll 
  • Set up and run bill pay
  • Perform catch-up and clean-up work

Prioritize client experience:

  • Build and strengthen client relationships by consistently delivering value and prioritizing both proactive and responsive communications
  • Translate “accounting” into “business owner speak”
  • Identify additional client service opportunities (such as virtual CFO, tax, or M&A due diligence) and bring to manager

Continuous improvement:

  • Identify and help execute on opportunities to improve team and client communication, processes, and collaboration
  • Identify technology that will improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Meet and exceed your production targets and deadlines

Measures of Success

  • Return calls and emails from clients and teammates within 24 business hours or sooner
  • Timeliness and accuracy of bookkeeping and accounting deliverables
  • Development of technical skills
  • Process improvements

Expectations for Remote Work

  • Clean, quiet video background
  • Business casual attire for client interactions
  • “Core” hours overlapping with other team members to collaborate efficiently
  • We provide a laptop, 2 monitors, and docking station as needed

Qualifications and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent; AA degree or higher in Accounting or Business preferred
  • High proficiency with Quickbooks Online and Quickbooks Desktop
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience in a public accounting firm
  • Real estate experience a plus
  • Accounts Payable and Payroll experience desired
  • High proficiency with office and client/project management software within a virtual environment
