Recreation Centers of Sun City West is Hiring a Sports Pavilion Manager Near West, AZ

POSITION SUMMARY
Manages, plans, and directs the operations of Sports Pavilion, including its key entities the bowling center, Lizard Acres Pub, billiards room, and provides oversight of the Pro Shop and Restaurant amenities and contracted vendors. Performs both administrative and financial duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (This list is not intended to detail all aspects of the assigned work but is representative of the job’s overall responsibilities.)

· Overall management responsibility for Sports Pavilion department services, amenities, and activities including bowling, billiards, and Lizard Acres Pub in accordance with the Bylaws and Policies of the Association.

· Participate in the selection of staff for assigned area, interviewing, hiring; provide or coordinate staff training; conduct annual performance evaluations and present wage increase recommendations; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures using the current policy and guidelines.

· Oversee and provide training for bowling mechanics staff involved in performing mechanical repairs and maintaining the bowling facility's operation.

· Warrants that the Pro Shop and Sport Pavilion Cafe contracted vendors remain in compliance to RCSCW policies, safety and operational procedures, Maricopa County code compliance and complies with any inspections. Scope of work for vendors includes grease trap servicing, hood ventilation system servicing and cleaning, maintaining current contracts and insurance policies, appropriate advertising, and marketing, ensuring operations, building usage and conditions are in accordance with contracts.

· Preservation and oversight of the facility's general appearance, being sure to identify any potential issues or unsafe conditions and working with other departments as needed to provide corrective actions.

· Plan, direct, and coordinate the department's work plans and goals, objectives, policies, and procedures; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems; assign projects and programmatic areas of responsibility; review and evaluate work methods and procedures.

· Responsible for preparing and creating the budget items related to the facility. Works with internal departments to provide budget recommendations, monitoring expenditures and working towards establishing reasonable profit margins.

· Advise the General Manager of staffing and organization needs; establish, within company policy, appropriate service, and staffing levels; monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; allocate resources accordingly.

· Ensure the adherence to safe work practices and procedures; investigate all health and safety related incidents and accidents; stay abreast of state and federal occupational safety and health requirements; perform regular safety inspections and keep accurate documentation.

· Prepares and presents, in conjunction with other departmental leaders, reports and correspondence to present for weekly and monthly reporting to department heads, the Sports Pavilion Committee, and the Governing Board.

· Maintain bowling industry awareness and training opportunities, including relevant Sports Pavilion activities. Attend a variety of trade shows, weekly staff and monthly committee meetings and prepare committee agenda responses.

· Oversees, coordinates, and approves marketing/promotion programs for Sports Pavilion working with General Services Officer for marketing and promotion support, content editing, publications meeting all deadlines.

· Supervise daily transactions; prepare daily cash report; log daily income and expenses, prepare monthly financial reports, working with finance department support, and delivery of financial information daily.

· Oversee, coordinating, maintaining records, approving bowling league activities, events, tournaments, soliciting volunteers, prepare flyers, purchase and presenting awards.

· Manage Lizard Acres entertainment activities, ensuring television and musical subscriptions are supported and publicized.

· Impeccable customer service and social perceptiveness includes the ability to evaluate customer satisfaction and responsiveness and pivot service as needed.

· Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive resident inquiries and complaints. Responsible for reporting all Incident Reports quickly, effectively utilizing appropriate documentation and elevating the General Managers attention as needed.

· Other duties as assigned.

· Maintains a consistent record of onsite acceptable attendance and punctuality according to policy guidelines and can work a flexible work schedule when needed.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

· Valid Arizona driver's license and safe driving record for insurance purposes.

· This candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Food Handlers Card (must be obtained within 60 days of hire).

· Maintain a current and valid Arizona Title 4 Basic Liquor Law Training Certification.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position supervises and directs staff. Supervisory responsibilities include planning, directing, interviewing, hiring, training employees, discipline action and evaluation of staff using performance evaluations, partnering with the appropriate departments to provide wage changes and adjustments.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Sufficient Training and education to demonstrate possession of required knowledge, skills and qualifications are required.

· Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in business or a recreation field

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience equaling a minimum of six years, may be substituted for educational requirement.

· Two years supervisory experience in a bowling complex overseeing business activities and mechanical operations, required.

· Working current knowledge of applicable state and federal laws related to employment matters.

· Specific knowledge related to bowling complexes including lane conditions, bowling computers, marketing and league experience, and experience with bowlers with disabilities required.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, lift and/or move more than 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds or more with assistance.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
