Professional Counselor

Summary/objective: The Professional Counselor works in a clinical outpatient services facility that specializes in substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. This position delivers supportive therapy services and works closely with members of the treatment team to provide individual and group counseling.

• Facilitate supportive counseling groups covering 12-step recovery, SUD and co-occurring conditions, criminal and addictive thinking, trauma, and living skills with groups of 6-12 clients
• Provide individual supportive counseling sessions to facilitate clients’ practicing of skills and reinforcement of ideas acquired in therapy
• Document therapeutic sessions and submit documentation to billing department as required for company reimbursement.
• Serve as member of treatment team which meets to evaluate clients’ treatment needs, generate detailed plan for delivery of clinical services, and evaluation clients’ clinical progress for purposes of plan review and discharge.

Education/Qualifications: Master’s degree in a human services field (psychology, social work, etc.) required. Experience in mental health or substance use disorder a plus. Case management of service coordination experience a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Must be knowledgeable of the principles of sound therapeutic practices with the target population. Must also understand victimization and demonstrate practices sensitive to sexual abuse/assault issues in therapy. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, good critical thinking skills and supervisory skills are required. The Counselor will have the ability to provide group, individual, and family counseling.

Pay: $48,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
