Recovery Center of Maryland, LLC is Hiring a Nurse Practitioner-Part-Time Near Baltimore, MD

The Recovery Center of Maryland is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to serve as Medical Director for our Outpatient Mental Health Clinic (OMHC) and Residential Withdrawal Management Program. Under Maryland state law, an OMHC must employ a medical director tasked with overall responsibility for clinical services (including, at minimum, medication management, and individual, group, and family therapy) delivered within the OMHC.
Primary Role:
The Medical Director is responsible for establishing and maintaining appropriate standards for diagnosis and treatment. The Medical Director is tasked with collaborating on creating an OMHC built on evidence-based modalities of care, appropriate prescribing practices, medical quality management, ensuring adequate coverage, and ensuring adequate clinical supervision of treatment staff. The Medical Director is tasked with clinical leadership over the OMHC and needs to be well versed in clinical practice and policy, best practices in community treatment, and ethical practices in community mental health care. The Medical Director is a key position that is charged with contributing to the strategic direction and practices of the OMHC and the staff that serve within that program. As critical incidents arise, the Medical Director will lend their expertise and leadership in creating solutions that serve the best interests of the clients in our agency as well as provide solutions for the prevention of incidents in the future. The Medical Director serves as a source of medical expertise and in this role would interface with a variety of state, federal, and national agencies as well as stakeholders and other providers of care that serve our clients.
Specific Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for identifying, selecting, and implementing evidence-based best practices and programs
  • Develops and implements clinical policies and procedures and evidence-based practice standards in alignment with accreditation and state requirements
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate standards for diagnosis and treatment, including therapeutic modalities and prescribing practices
  • Ensures high-level medical care to all OMHC clients as well as coordinates medical coverage
  • Conducts initial and ongoing medical diagnostic assessments and oversees the implementation of the person-centered plan
  • Oversees linkage between somatic healthcare and behavioral healthcare for OMHC clients
  • Prescribes and provides medication management as well as DATA2000 waived medications
  • Assists with the management team in recruitment and retention, hiring, training, and supervising of the OMHC staff
  • Serves a vital role in determining the appropriate level of care and utilization of services
  • Monitors prescribing practices and trains all staff of OMHC in medication management practices for a community-based healthcare program
  • Provides linkages to professional and academic communities
  • Serves on planning and oversight teams for accreditation, state/federal monitoring bodies and agencies, and all necessary treatment teams
  • Conducts performance evaluations of OMHC clinical staff as required by the agency
  • Other services as necessary
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrated ability to examine, evaluate, diagnose, and treat psychiatric and mental illnesses. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to work with multidisciplinary treatment teams ensuring development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of treatment.
Skilled in the use of technology, software, and resources to assist and aid in the course of daily medical responsibilities.
Skilled in documenting medical records and articulating and interacting with patients and others regarding clinical/administrative concerns or issues.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  1. Must hold a psychiatric nurse practitioner license in good standing in the state of Maryland
  2. Must hold DATA2000 waiver and active XDEA number
  3. Must be actively credentialed with Maryland Medicaid
