Recology is NOW HIRING a Lead Equipment Operator in Portland!

THE ROLE OF A LEAD EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

Under minimal supervision, acts as a lead in sorting, positioning, staging and loading waste and recyclable materials for safe transport and efficient removal from the site.

SCHEDULE: Friday - Tuesday, 9:00am - Close (usually 6:30pm); Sunday 7am-5pm

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF – LEAD EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

  • Operates heavy equipment, such as a loader, dozer, excavator or similar equipment, as applicable to location.
  • Performs daily routine safety and equipment operation checks including pre- and post-shift inspections on assigned equipment.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
  • Reports issues to the appropriate authority and in a timely manner.
  • Acts as a lead or resource for other Equipment Operators, answering questions and providing training.
  • Supports other areas of the operation, as needed.
  • Maintains good customer relations and interacts in a professional manner with customers.
  • Suggests process improvements to enhance efficient removal from the site.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

  • Three or more years of related experience, including experience in the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment.
  • Principles and practices of job site safety, potential job hazards, and state and local regulations.
  • Basic computer aptitude.
  • Principles and practices of job site safety, potential job hazards, and state and local regulations including applicable waste regulation.
  • Basic computer programs.
  • High school degree or GED, preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Commercial driver’s license, preferred.
  • Principles of employee training and supervision.

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Required)
  • CDL (Preferred)

Ability to Relocate:

  • Portland, OR 97210: Relocate before starting work (Required)
