Job Summary:
As a Surgical Advanced Practice Provider (Surgical APP) at Real You Plastic Surgery & Wellness, you will play a pivotal role in collaborating with physicians and surgeons to deliver exceptional medical and surgical care to our patients.
Under the direction of the Physician, Surgical APP is responsible for collaborating with physicians and surgeons to provide comprehensive medical and surgical care to patients. They play a crucial role in various peri-operative settings, ensuring the smooth flow of patient care from preoperative assessment to postoperative follow-up. With their clinical expertise, administrative capabilities, and dedication to patient well-being, Surgical APPs contribute significantly to the success and effectiveness of surgical practices.
Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations.
  • Prepare patients for surgery by explaining procedures, reviewing medical histories, and addressing patient concerns.
  • Assist surgeons during surgical procedures, performing tasks such as suturing, wound care, and maintaining sterile conditions.
  • Monitor patients' postoperative recovery, manage wound care, remove sutures, and provide follow-up consultations.
  • Educate patients about procedures, recovery expectations, and ongoing care, ensuring patient understanding and compliance.
  • Depending on training and practice scope, may perform minor cosmetic procedures like Botox injections, Fillers, or laser treatments.
  • Fulfill other clinical responsibilities as directed by the physician.
Administrative Responsibilities:
  • Handle administrative tasks such as patient scheduling, record-keeping, and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate with other medical staff to ensure efficient patient care and practice operations.
  • Contribute to practice management, participating in strategic planning and workflow optimization.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients and the surgeon, addressing patient concerns and facilitating communication.
  • Undertake other administrative responsibilities as directed by the physician.
Skills and Attributes:
  • Proficiency in surgical techniques and patient care, with a keen focus on precision and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, crucial for patient interactions and team collaboration.
  • Ability to adapt to the dynamic environment of a surgical practice and thrive under pressure.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, capable of managing multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously.
Education and Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited Advanced Practice Provider (APP) program, with a focus on surgical training.
  • National APP certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with additional specialization in surgery or related disciplines preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience with surgical assist.
  • Current state license in good standing.

The role of a Surgical APP entails various physical tasks essential to patient care and surgical assistance, including standing for extended periods, maneuvering and positioning patients, operating surgical equipment, maintaining a sterile environment, and responding promptly to emergent situations.
Typical Working Conditions:
Working conditions for the Surgical APP role may include operating rooms, hospital wards, surgery centers, clinics, office settings, collaborative teamwork environments, and exposure to potentially infectious materials and hazardous substances.
Access to PHI (Protected Health Information):
This position has the authority to access PHI, involving review of computerized schedules, medical records, billing data, lab results, and encounter data, necessitating a commitment to privacy and confidentiality protocols.
