REST Job Description

Background

REST exists to expand pathways to freedom, safety and hope in order to end sex trafficking. REST offers programs that are centered on the strengths, needs and individual choices of each survivor we serve. We offer a continuum of care that includes outreach, a 24/7 hotline, community advocates, a drop-in center, an economic empowerment program, emergency shelter, residential program, and housing services. Role Summary

The Advocate Supervisor is a vital member of REST’s Survivor Services leadership team, which works closely with the Survivor Services Manager to achieve divisional goals and outcomes. This role oversees three to four Community Advocates and/or case managers who deliver trauma-informed, strength-based, and individualized services to survivors of sex trafficking. The Advocate Supervisor supports Community Advocates as they walk alongside survivors on their pathway to self-sufficiency and recovery. Community Advocates are well-versed in motivational interviewing and REST’s Principles of Care. The Advocate Supervisor supports the Community Advocates to have the knowledge, skills, and tools to provide direct services to clients. The Community Advocates’ work is to help survivors identify their strengths, prioritize the survivor’s self-identified goals to create service plans that move the client towards one year out of sex trafficking.

The Advocate Supervisor supervises one of REST’s transitional houses, providing 24/7 on-call leadership support for any emergencies related to the house and its residents. 

Role Competencies 

Leadership Excellence: The Advocate Supervisor is responsible for demonstrating excellent management skills, which includes modeling and upholding our organizational values, holding the team accountable for excellent results, coaching team members to perform at the highest levels, motivating team members to work in unity, and serve as “one” voice with the organization.

Critical Problem-Solver: The Advocate Supervisor quickly sees problems as they arise, collaborates with peers and team members to work towards understanding the basis of the problem, leads the team through curiosity and a sense of possibility when identifying possible solutions and conclusions, weighs the relative risks, and makes a clear decision.

Effective Communicator: The Advocate Supervisor communicates in a timely manner, clearly, directly, and kindly in their written and spoken words. The supervisor uses tact, excellent judgment, and discretion when appropriate. The supervisor ensures that individual team members have clear, direct, and kind communication. Supervisors speak in “one voice” with REST.

Technological Literacy: Proficient at Excel, Microsoft Office, Google cloud products, Apple products, and other web-based business technologies at use within REST. 

Culture Carrier: The Advocate Supervisor is a “culture carrier,” meaning that the supervisor models our values, ensures that our workplaces and teams reflect our values, and holds individuals responsible and accountable for living our values. The supervisor does not, through words or actions, create division within the team or division between the team and the organization.

Leads through faith: As a Christian organization, the Advocate Supervisor models and upholds REST’s Statement of Faith.

Leads through Others: The Advocate Supervisor accomplishes the work of services through others, specifically direct services staff. The Advocate Supervisor collaborates with the manager and peers to implement REST services while mobilizing and coaching the team to deliver excellent results. 

Results-Focused: The Advocate Supervisor is focused on successfully leading the team to achieve division goals and supporting, coaching, and mentoring staff to achieve their KPIs.

Sound Judgment: The Advocate Supervisor exercises tact, diplomacy, and discretion in their actions. They use both strategic and critical thinking skills to make decisions and escalates matters to the manager, as appropriate. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Supervision

  • Collaborate with Survivor Services Manager to deliver division goals and outcomes. 
          • Evaluate the performance of the team and it’s individuals.
          • Plan, organize, and implement trainings, workshops or activities that cater to the diverse needs and interest of the REST clients.
          • Delegate tasks equitably to staff, volunteers, interns, or facilitators working within the team to achieve the best outcomes.
          • Remain informed on opportunities of collaboration with community partners, local organizations and volunteers to enhance the range of resources and referrals to offer to clients.
          • Stay informed and up-to-date on available community services and resources available through community partners, local organizations/government, etc.
          • Attend and collaborate with other organizations within the Adult Survivor Collaborative, King Co. CSEC Task Force, and CEASE networks, facilitating meetings or presenting at meetings when requested.
          • Hold expertise in program policies and procedures and ensure all staff follow policies and procedures.
          • Ensure all HR processes and Finance processes are completed in a timely manner, including submitting staff expense reports, time cards, etc.

Staff Care

          • Onboard program service staff, volunteers, interns or facilitators.
          • Effectively train staff in understanding division goals, organization standards and outcomes.
          • Consult with Survivor Services Manager on the progress of services outcomes of staff, volunteers, interns or facilitators utilizing logic models, key performance indicators, performance improvement plans and annual reviews 
          • Ensure staff, volunteer, interns or facilitators are scheduled properly and that all shifts, events, and programming is staffed. In coordination with the Survivor Services Manager, conduct quarterly training sessions to ensure all staff, volunteers, interns and facilitators are knowledgeable on division guidelines, program standards and program resources.
          • Collaborate with the Survivor Services Manager to evaluate and implement policies and procedures and all other organizational standards.
          • Conduct 1:1 meetings with community advocates, providing guidance, support and mentorship. Conduct quarterly and annual performance reviews.
          • Provide a consistent in-person presence in the workplace modeling a standard of trauma-informed care, strength-based care and person-centered environment.

Client Care

          • Uphold REST values when engaging with staff and guests. 
          • Cultivate a welcoming, safe and inclusive community environment that follows all policies and procedures as well as provides culturally responsive care for all clients.
          • Address conflicts or issues that arise amongst clients and staff with sensitivity and professionalism.
          • Assist in crisis response and respond to grievances for escalated client issues
          • Ensure all team members are providing trauma-informed, relationship-based, and strengths-based care while following through with their respective responsibilities.
          • Collaborate with the Emergency Services Supervisors to ensure excellent quality of care of REST clients.
          • Provide support to Community Advocates as needed as they advocate on behalf of clients within government organizations and community services to increase opportunity for success.

Reporting, Systems, and Facilities

          • Fulfill all reporting requirements in the REST client data systems and any additional grant reporting software.
          • Support the manager’s efforts to track outcomes, evaluate REST’s services, and identify and suggest areas for improvement.
          • Maintain facility upkeep, security, health and cleanliness standards.
          • Collaborate with operations to ensure building safety for staff and clients and that REST’s safety protocols are known, understood, and in practice.
          • Participate in all staff meetings and trainings
          • Remain in compliance with all administration responsibility, including Apricot, timecards, ADP and Expensify

Other

          • Self-regulate when experiencing triggers, trauma-responses, or stressors in order to stay engaged, productive and meet the needs of the team and clients.
          • Contribute to the improvement of diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the team.
          • Other duties as assigned

Key Performance Indicators

  • 90% survivors enrolled in advocacy meet with their advocate in person at least one time per month
  • 90% of enrolled clients will achieve 3 goals related to a service plan within 6 months
  • 90% of clients who access safe and stable housing maintain housing for 90 days without eviction
  • 80% occupancy at the REST Houses (North and South) 
  • 80% of clients enrolled in TIP maintain housing for one year 
  • 75% of clients enrolled in short-term TIP maintain housing for 90 days 
  • Collaborate and coordinate 12 professional development trainings for staff which includes: trauma informed and person centered care and more 

Schedule 

40 hours/week. This position typically works Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Occasional on call and outside hours may be required. Some holidays may be required, and some seasons may require more than 40 hours/week.

Location 

This position is based out of REST’s office is located in South Seattle but must be able to meet clients throughout King County and the region.

Benefits

This position is eligible for all benefits offered to full-time non-exempt employees. This currently starts at up to 15 days (120 hours) of accrued vacation, 10 days of accrued sick time, 12 holidays, 100% employer paid medical/dental/vision premiums for employee, one paid mental health hour each week, and a 403b retirement plan.

Job conditions

This position encounters a variety of daily work situations, including complex situations that require immediate attention and decision making. There may be both routine and complex interpersonal interactions to navigate with care and thoughtfulness. Processes may change based on changing needs of the organization, new technology, or new ideas for efficiency. This position operates as part of a team and engages in on-site work that may require time spent sitting, standing, walking up and down stairs, driving, transporting items. Position works under occasional time constraints to meet objectives, and performs computer work, including using a keyboard, looking at a screen, using the internet, email, phone, and video conferencing.
