REACH is seeking a Communications Officer to add to its small but dynamic and dedicated team of professionals to advance the foundation’s vision that all people achieve equitable health outcomes. The Communications Officer will help shape a compelling narrative of hope and action. Through a variety of communications platforms and with a wide variety of audiences, you will advance the foundation’s vision, mission, and key bodies of work, lift the voices of people living in the coverage gap, and promote the good works of nonprofit partners in Kansas and Missouri.

Responsibilities

How You Will Make an Impact

The Communications Officer fosters collaborative, professional partnerships with the Foundation's executive leadership, dedicated program staff, and esteemed Board members. This role illuminates REACH’s work and that of its grantee partners as they advance the foundation’s community investment priorities: strengthen the safety net, close the health equity gap, and bridge the coverage divide. As Communications Officer, you will orchestrate and execute sophisticated communications and public relations strategies to promote understanding and enthusiasm among grantee partners, local communities, media outlets, and government entities. This critical role illuminates the Foundation's vision, mission, and core purpose and strategically positions the Foundation as a thought leader in the areas of health equity, quality healthcare access, and the championing of underserved communities within the REACH service area.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Provide seasoned communications expertise across digital, influence-based, and multimedia communications.
  • Create diverse, compelling content for both internal and external needs, spanning communication campaigns, storytelling, blog posts, press releases, email marketing, social media, talking points, and presentation materials.
  • Offer expert proofreading, copyediting, and style guide oversight.
  • Manage project plans, timelines, and collaborations for effective Foundation communications.
  • Uphold the integrity of the organization’s brand identity and style standards through communications activities.
  • Support and participate in organizational events and other communications flagship projects as assigned.
  • Cultivate and supervise a diverse set of communication vendors.
  • Identify and implement appropriate primary CRM technology for marketing and community education purposes.
  • Facilitate and execute analytics, monitoring and reporting for performance as assigned.

Qualifications

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, English, or related field.
  • 5 years' progressive experience in various marketing communication skills: writing, editing, web management, social media strategy, email marketing, brand oversight, message development, storytelling, and multimedia production.
  • 5 years’ diverse writing experience, focusing and simplifying complex information with an audience-first approach.
  • 5 years’ experience in effective audience identification and engagement.
  • 2 years of demonstrated experience working in/managing CRM systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in AP style, proofreading and copyediting.
  • Strong personal commitment to the foundation’s vision and mission.
  • Experience in advocacy, public policy, and/or working with non-profits is preferred.
