Job Description: Intermediate Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

About the role:

As an Intermediate Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) you will play a critical role in helping our teams deliver high-quality products. Actively seeking out opportunities to increase test coverage and improve our testing platform, you will be an enabling force, allowing our Engineers to deliver value to our customers quickly and safely. You’ll work closely with Platform and Engineering teams to create and optimize testing and deployment pipelines for speed, coverage, and reliability. Collaborating with Engineering leaders, the Product team, and fellow Test Engineers, you’ll help make decisions and lead projects that will lay the groundwork for Reach to help millions outsmart debt for good.

What you will do:

• Work closely with other members of our Test Enablement Team to build frameworks and tooling that empower our Engineering teams to solve problems and deliver high-quality software at scale

• Actively seek out areas for improvement in our tech stack and find creative ways to break our product and systems

• Work closely with Product and Engineering to measure and increase Reach Financials test coverage and release confidence

• Gather continuous feedback about Reach’s evolving test and development platforms to ensure we’re solving the problems that matter most 

• Be a mentor and coach for more junior members of the Engineering Enablement Team What you should have:

• You have 2-3 years of experience delivering test automation solutions at scale; test infrastructure, testing environments, and test orchestration (CI/CD - GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Jenkins)

• You have 2-3 years of experience using modern functional testing automation tools (Playwright, Puppeteer, Cypress.io ) 

• You have experience working with API, Integration, and visual regression testing tools (Postman, REST-assured, Pact, Percy, Applitools)

• You are proficient in at least one programming or scripting language (JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, Python) 

• You have 2 years of experience writing queries in SQL, SOQL, or an equivalent language.

• Some experience working with CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

• You have a proven ability to design and implement large-scale projects

• You have exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Nice to have:

• Testing experience with Salesforce applications and functions.

• Experience working with developer-centric testing and monitoring tools such as Datadog, Splunk, etc.

• Experience working with consumer financial products (banking, loans, mortgages, credit cards, etc.) 

• Previous startup experience and testing in a rapid development life cycle
