Essential Functions:
Set up and operate a mill to draw aluminum oalloy rod and wire to smaller round cross sections based upon order specifications for diameter, tensile strength, and footage.
Requirements: Academic: High school diploma or G.E.D.
Experience: Mill experience is not required.

(b) Ability to use basic hand tools.
Duties: Mill set up
Work from order specifications to perform set up operations involving the use of standard hand tools. Select proper edge rolls for job, set wire to appropriate diameter, and string wire through mill. Make all required mill adjustments to achieve product specifications and bring sample to Quality Assurance Lab for inspection and verification.
Mill operation
Run required product lengths to fill order while maintaining desired product characteristics. Inspect product to ensure diameter remains within specifications. Monitor and adjust take up to ensure acceptable packaging of product. Remove completed product from mill and identify with tags. Record production data on production worksheets and travelers. Keep mill supplied with all required materials, including feed stock and empty stems. Keep work area clean and free of hazards.
Product inspection
Measure product diameter for every finished package. Record measurements on the traveler with initials.
Safety
Observe all safety rules and use safe work practices in all activities.
Other duties
Follow any other job-related instructions and perform any other job-related duties requested by management.
Equipment: Ability to use the following equipment:
(a) Various hand tools including wrenches, hammer, file, tin snips, and bolt cutters.
(b) Material handling equipment including forklifts, hand trucks, and hoists.
(c) Welder and swaging devices.
(d) Micrometer.
Physical Requirements:
(a) Manual dexterity with primary emphasis on using hand tools and operating equipment.
(b) Sense of touch to perceive attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture, by feeling with fingertips.
(c) Speaking ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word and to convey detailed instructions accurately.
(d) Hearing ability to receive information through oral communication.
(e) Visual acuity to enable close inspection of product surface condition and reading of information on printed page.
(f) Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds, to pull with a force of 100 pounds, and to push and pull objects weighing up to 1300 pounds using a hoist. Ability to remain standing throughout a ten-hour shift (excluding breaks), with frequent bending and occasional squatting and twisting.
Environmental
Conditions: Factory environment with constant exposure to electrical current, heat, fumes, odors, dust, and proximity to moving parts.
Personal Protective
Equipment: (a) Safety glasses at all times in the factory.
(b) Hearing protection when in posted noise hazard areas of the factory.
(c) Steel toe safety shoes.
