Exciting Opportunity in the Solar Field!

This is your chance to join our team as a PV Surveyor/ technician for an RCR client, where you'll be at the forefront of revolutionizing the way we harness and utilize solar energy.

The PV Surveyor / Technician is responsible for assessing feasibility and designing residential photovoltaic installation projects. Some battery system design work is also required. PV Surveyor / Technician will work under the Director of Residential Projects and will also interact with the Director of Sales, Installation Foreman, and the Sales team.

This role will be responsible for conducting accurate site surveys and translating survey findings into usable and installable PV and power storage designs. This role requires an understanding of the NEC, OSHA safety regulations, and local EDC requirements (This company works mostly in PECO territory, but often has projects in PPL, PSEG, and ACE territories) An understanding of financial implications of difficult installs is also important.

A successful PV Surveyor / Technician is expected to:

  • Conduct physical (and virtual) design surveys with tools such as drones, tape measure, ladders, and personal protective equipment, independently or, as needed, with a team
  • Assess customers roof, basements, attics and electrical panels and document information pertaining to the customers:

a. Main Service Panel, and existing Electrical system

b. Roof Surface Condition

c. Roof Structure

d. Optimal conduit/conductor routes from the array to the MSP

e. Hazards for Installers

f. Other information about the home that may impact the project

  • Operate a drone and conduct a drone survey where direct roof access is not feasible

a. drone flights required for all surveys for production estimates

  • Follow through with projects that require structural certifications and coordinate timely structural roof analysis with homeowner (often requires creation of an access point to the roof cavity)
  • Working with a 3rd party document set partner, translate design survey information from design phase into an approved and code compliant document set (permit drawings)
  • Stay abreast and adapt to industry trends; continuously learnings about battery systems, EV chargers, technical developments, troubleshooting, maintenance, structural analysis, and more
  • Develop and maintain strong communication skills with the Sales and Management teams in order to clearly create and plan projects to make installations optimally efficient.
  • Effectively use the company CRM to track project information, progress, timelines, and performance data
  • Understand the optimal design applications and design limitations of our standard products, and lead the evaluation of alternate products

PREREQUISITES

A. At least one year experience in the solar survey or design field OR at least one year experience conducting site surveys for general construction projects that included roof and/or electrical elements

B. Active Driver’s License

C. Familiarity working in common software environments such as the Google Suite of business programs

D. OSHA 10

E. NABCEP PV Associate or OR an existing eagerness to sit for and pass the NABCEP exam

F. Comfort setting up a 24’ ladder and working at heights that require OSHA fall protection

G. Ability to lift 50 lbs

REPORTING STRUCTURE

This role will report to the PV Designer. This role coordinates with:

A. Director of Resi Projects

B. Director of Sales

C. Peer Drone Surveyors/PV Designers

D. Sales Team

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
