As a Heavy Civil Project Estimator, your primary responsibility is to accurately estimate the costs associated with large-scale civil construction projects. You will analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to determine the materials, labor, equipment, and overhead costs required for each project. Your estimates will serve as the foundation for bidding on projects and ensuring profitability and competitiveness in the heavy civil construction industry.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and detailed project estimates for construction projects
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to determine project requirements
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop cost-effective solutions
- Utilize construction estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam to create estimates
- Conduct site visits and gather necessary information for accurate cost estimation
- Identify potential risks and opportunities for cost savings
- Review and negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers
- Monitor project costs throughout the construction process and implement cost control measures
- Provide support to project teams during the bidding process
Requirements:
- Proven experience in construction estimating: storm water; heavy earthwork; concrete
- Proficiency in using construction estimating software such as Bluebeam
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
- Ability to read and interpret project plans, specifications, and other technical documents
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in estimating costs
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
