Summary of Position:
· Individual must possess the physical ability and mental capability to operate grinders, router, buffers, shear and TIG welder safely and effectively. Along with use of basic hand tools such as; vise grips, square, hammer and wrenches.
Duties & Responsibilities
· Cut and weld structural steel as per print, read prints in order to layout marks or verbal instructions.
· Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques.
· Inspects and cleans completed welds for quality and size.
· Works independently or as part of a team and make sound decisions and solve technical problems.
· Fit and position weldments having several parts, using welding fixtures and jigs.
· Thorough knowledge of welding techniques, material characteristics, and structural fundamentals.
· Work with medium size bases and frames, structural steel, and plate steel weldments.
· Work with open table layout, and fixture welding.
· Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
· Performs a variety of tasks, as asked by supervisor
· Must be able to work weekends and overtime
· Be flexible to assist in other departments as needed or required by shop management
· Follow directions and instructions provided by Shop Manager, Shop Supervisor and Shop Lead
Required Skills & Experience
· Possess mathematical skills, specifically being able to add and subtract fractions and decimals
· Ability to read prints and spec sheets
· Ability to lift and/or handle sheet metal up to 100 pounds
· Possess the ability to work safely in all situations
· Ability to read a tape measure in 16ths of an inch
· Ability to work with others
· Ability to drive a lift truck a plus, though not required
· Ability to determine angles on miter cuts
· Ability to successfully complete TIG weld test
