Job Summary:
The Common Electronic Products Department (CEPD) at Raytheon Missiles & Defense seeks a highly talented EMI Effects Engineer to join our team in Tucson, AZ. CEPD is the internal customer facing organization for internal design activities and provides the expertise that optimizes electronic hardware designs for producibility, provides electrical circuit design, strategic procurement relationships, and assembly services through project leadership to achieve cycle time, technology, and cost goals.
The EMI Effects Engineer is responsible for performing EMI testing of electronics for extremely low electromagnetic emissions and high tolerance to external electromagnetic interferers in order to meet industry EMI / EMC standards. Experience in applied methods to control self-interference in high-gain, high-speed, low-noise advanced sensor systems including radar and electro-optic guidance units, the grounding strategies thereof, power distribution, shielding, partitioning and noise-reduction methods. The Engineer has experience in the architecture, application and advanced design of electronic subsystems that have successfully achieved high performance in the field. This position requires proactive work with design engineers to perform EMI / EMC testing to industry standards as well as troubleshooting and mitigating interference when identified. The EMI Effects Engineer will help navigate electromagnetic interference compliance testing and deliver reports that meet both program and customer requirements.
The successful candidate will have experience compliance testing for EMI in complex system electronics that span multiple sub systems connected via shielded harnessing. They should also have experience working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  • Review of EMI test plans for new designs, to support the capture, and technical execution of testing criteria.
  • Provide technical conscience, challenged with making sure the product and test processes meet appropriate standards.
  • Visible and accountable for technical decisions.
  • Technical contact with the customer inclusive of requirements, test commitments, IRAD, future laboratory needs, etc.
  • Drive optimization of testing platforms, software automation
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience to include any combination of the following:
    • Experience in EMI/EMC analysis design and test
    • Experience with MatLab, ANSYS/ HFSS or CST Microwave
    • Previous work experience with MIL-STD-461 testing
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Value:
  • Prior work on a launch vehicle, missile systems, or aerospace.
  • Currently hold a DoD issued security clearance of Secret or higher
  • Ability to provide detailed documentation related to test planning, EMI test plans and EMI procedures and test reports with minimal revision and review
  • Knowledge of automated EMI test techniques and programming, specifically using TILE
  • Strong customer focus with good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
