Collins Aerospace Systems Engineering Department has an immediate opportunity for a Section Manager position. This position is in the based Marlborough, Massachusetts supporting the Communications and Network Solutions (CNS) Product line. We are seeking a System Engineering Section Manager (SM) who is a dynamic and innovative communications leader, with proven and recognized leadership experience in multiple domains. The major role for this position is to lead and improve the strength of the System Engineering personnel resources in development of active electronically scanned array (AESA) products and systems. This position is for someone with proven leadership skills, to be the System Engineering Section Manager within the CNS Product Line within the Mission Systems Mission Area. This person will lead the Systems Engineering Team. The Section Manager will collaborate with Engineering Fellows, Program Managers, and Chief Engineers to provide system engineering discipline and guidance on existing and emerging products. The Section Manager will lead, cultivate, and grow the System Engineering personnel. The SM will provide qualified staffing support to programs and proposals. The SM will also support the Technical Director and Leadership Team in the creation of technical strategies and product roadmaps within the Product Line. This position requires strong initiative, communication, and collaboration with Integrated Product Team leaders and personnel from several functional disciplines. The job will also require the candidate to know or learn the CNS AESA products and understand their physical configuration, functions, and performance under the aircraft non-operational and operational profiles experienced over the system life-cycle.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required
  • Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor's degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
  • System engineering experience including system design, requirements development, integration and test, and verification and qualification of products and/or systems
  • Must be able to work within a structured Systems Engineering process environment including a task oriented, value based management system
  • Domain experience in hardware/software integration, user experience, and new technology insertion
  • Prior leadership experience and communication skills for engagement with program management, technical team members and customers and/or subcontractors
  • Experience leading teams of technical experts and engineers coupled with technical problem solving and system architecture development
  • Working experience with Earned Value Management
  • Working experience with Risk and Opportunity management
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Multiple years of experience with airborne and ground communication military product design and development
  • Experience in proposal development, particularly Engineering Change Proposal and Basis of Estimate development, and other contract deliverable artifacts
  • Working knowledge of EVMS, IMS, & IMP tools for managing programs
  • Strong team building and motivational skills.
  • Proven ability to lead or help teams to resolve technical problems
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
