The following position is to join our RTX Corporate team:

This Director, RTX Government Relations, Asia Pacific position supports the Asia Pacific government relations program for the Global Government Relations Team in Arlington, VA. This position has a particular focus on promoting RTX equities and interests in Asia Pacific with the respective embassies and executive branch of the U.S. Government in Washington, D.C. Executive branch entities of particular focus include the Department of State, Department of Defense, Department of Commerce, and National Security Council. The position will focus on working with other elements of the Global Government Relations team to build and foster relationships with foreign government, U.S. Government, and business leaders, while raising RTX’s profile and communicating the company’s strategic business interests.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and maintain relationships with primarily Asia Pacific government officials and U.S. Government officials covering Asia Pacific region to highlight opportunities, identify shared/aligned interest, shape requirements, and influence regulations in support of RTX business efforts and other interests.
  • Working with other members of the Asia Pacific, and broader Global Government Relations teams, monitor policy and regulatory developments across Asia Pacific region and Asia Pacific-focused portions of the U.S. Government and act, when appropriate, to ensure RTX corporate interests are protected and advanced.
  • Represent the company’s position on Asia Pacific focused policy and regulatory issues before foreign and U.S. government officials as well as other stakeholders.
  • Serve as a consultant and advisor to RTX’s senior leadership on matters involving decisions, which will affect the achievement of corporate goals in Asia Pacific.
  • Organize and staff senior company leader engagements with Asia Pacific government officials, U.S. Government officials working Asia Pacific, and other stakeholders.
  • Engage and utilize associations and business councils that RTX is a member of to advance RTX interests in Asia Pacific.
  • Attend Asia Pacific-focused hearings, conferences, meetings, and other special events in Washington, D.C. to represent the company as needed and identify trends and developments in Asia Pacific that might affect RTX interests.
  • Monitor, analyze and update RTX leadership on geopolitical trends that could impact RTX business interests, such as relations with the U.S., changes in government, changes in security, or changes in defense priorities of regional countries.
  • Engage with RTX’s businesses to better understand their programs, products, and needs in Asia Pacific; identify opportunities in Washington, D.C. to promote these needs.
  • Support RTX and RTX business unit business development initiatives in Asia Pacific region, including supporting market intelligence and assessments of opportunities.
  • Other activities as identified by Global Government Relations leadership.
  • Travel, as needed, to support company requirements.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • A university degree and a minimum 14 years of experience or an advanced degree and a minimum 12 years of experience.
  • Experience working Asia Pacific policy or regulatory issues within the U.S. Government.
  • Strong Defense, National Security and/or Department of State background.
  • Collaborative, team player working across government relations, business, and other corporate functions.
  • Strong writer and strategic thinker who can translate complex issues to both company leadership and outside government stakeholders.
  • Ability to build and lead coalitions with other stakeholders in support of international government engagement strategies.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Advanced Degree and minimum 12 years experience
  • Experience working in a relevant federal agency.
  • Familiarity with Asia Pacific government and business culture.
  • Experience operating in diplomatic engagements and settings.
  • Experience living in the region.
  • Established and trusted personal network within Federal Agencies, foreign embassies, associations, and think tanks, especially in the greater Washington D.C. area.
  • Fluency in Japanese, Korean or Chinese.

This role is also eligible for the Re-Empower Program. The Re-Empower Program helps support talented and committed professionals as they rebuild their capabilities, enhance leadership skills, and continue their professional journey. Over the course of the 14-week program, experienced professionals will gain paid, on-the-job experience, have an opportunity to participate in sessions with leadership, develop personalized plans for success and receive coaching to guide their return-to-work experience. Minimum Program Qualifications

To qualify for the RTX Re-Empower Program, candidates should:

  • Be on a career break of one or more year at time of application

The salary range for this role is 171,000 USD - 343,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.This role is a U.S.-based role.
