Rayonier Operating Company LLC is Hiring a Resource Land Manager Near Lufkin, TX

Come grow with us! We are One Rayonier, a team that works together to create value by maintaining a strong safety culture, challenging the status quo, giving back to our communities, being innovative, continuously learning and leading the way. After more than 90 years, Rayonier is still uncovering new ways to make lives better with our trees, our land, and — our most important resource — our people.

We strive to create an employee experience that makes you proud to be a part of the Rayonier team. We are committed to maintaining an inclusive and collaborative environment where you can be who you are and valued for your unique talents and perspectives. Rayonier is big enough to offer you professional growth and development opportunities, yet small enough for you to know every coworker by name. Come join a team that empowers you to make a difference!

The Resource Land Manager role is perfect for individuals that want to manage and improve the forest estate through deployment of industry leading silviculture treatments and land operation activities in a manner that maximizes financial returns. Individuals should have a passion for continuous learning, a desire to work in a team environment and a willingness to collaborate with and assist other work groups. In this position, you will make decisions that will shape near and long-term outcomes and will contribute to our mission of growing sustainable forests to support consumer needs while caring for the environment and protecting endangered species. Primary tasks include coordination and supervision of operations (site preparation, planting, herbaceous weed control, fertilization, thinning and timber stand improvements); using decision support tools to financially evaluate treatments; performing silviculture updates in GIS database; coordinating road and boundary line maintenance; supporting timber marketing with harvest compliance as required; and developing and maintaining good relationships with adjacent landowners, industry contracts and government agencies.

While in this role you will gain exposure to many different aspects of forestry and have access to the tools, support and development you desire to continue to build upon your knowledge and expertise and advance your career, including mentoring, training opportunities, development exposure and more.

Location: This role will manage our property in the following counties, Jasper, Newton, and Tyler. It would be recommended that this person live in one of these counties working remotely the majority of the time due to the proximity of the land to the office in Lufkin, TX.

HOW YOU WILL SUCCEED:

  • Make safety a way of life and commit to “standing in the gap” and fixing it when you see a potential safety risk
  • Build meaningful relationships and partnerships with contractors, neighboring landowners, our communities and land users
  • Take ownership of the land you manage and use your knowledges, training, tools and available resources to make sound financial decisions
  • Collaborate with others and share your viewpoints, ideas and findings to create better outcomes for Rayonier, our customers and communities
  • Understand your responsibility for environmental stewardship and take careful measures to ensure the long-term sustainability of our forest ecosystems, as well as the wildlife, soils, and water within them
  • Commit to continuous learning, finding new and more innovative ways of doing things and staying current on state BMPs, SFI principles and technology

WHAT IS REQUIRED:

  • BS or AS degree in forestry or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in land management with a strong emphasis in management of silviculture and forest operations
  • Understanding of silviculture, forest operations, state BMP’s and SFI principles, GIS and financial analysis.

Rayonier is committed to maintaining a safe and productive work environment that is drug-free, promotes diversity, and is free of discrimination.
