Description

  • Adhere to residents’ special diet restrictions and menus through written and oral directions.
  • Assist as needed with washing dishes, silverware, pots, pans and equipment after each meal making sure all items are clean and spotless.
  • Assist in checking in food deliveries that may arrive and store, as it is received.
  • Assist in maintaining proper food costs.
  • Assist in monitoring and controlling food waste.
  • Assist in preparing all food items according to established, quality standard safety and sanitary practices.
  • Assist in supervising the dining room/ kitchen to ensure that food is served properly and clean-up is prompt and thorough.
  • Assist in the establishment and implementation of department policies and procedures.
  • Bake breads and basic desserts.
  • Ensure the kitchen is set-up for service, breakdown of line, cleaning and closing of kitchen.
  • Demonstrate creativity in hot and cold plate preparation and presentation.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of mechanical operation of all kitchen equipment and recognize equipment that is need of repair.
  • Ensure that all Dining Services associates follow safe food handling and sanitation techniques per infection control policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that residents, guests, and associates receive high-quality food and service in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure the proper storage of food and non-food items is follow, and exercise the first in, first out method for rotation.
  • Establish and maintain a caring and nurturing environment, which supports the health of the residents of the community.
  • Interact with residents on a daily basis to ascertain their views, suggestions and concerns on meals served.
  • Knowledge of proper portion control and yield factors.
  • Maintain and record proper temperature controls.
  • Meet regularly with Director of Culinary Operations regarding menus, service, procedures, etc.
  • Perform tasks as assigned on cleaning schedule.
  • Prepare all stocks, soups and sauces from scratch as needed.
  • Prepare basic meat, seafood fabrication and all food items according to established quality standards.
  • Prepare and assist in serving meals in accordance with the menu and recipes' items as scheduled in production sheets.
  • Provide proper food transportation and plate-up.
  • Report any unusual incidents to the Director of Culinary Operations, Executive Director or Manager on-duty.
  • Report food needs, requests, or changes to the Director of Culinary Operations.
  • Respond and assist with any resident, staff, guest or community emergency.
  • Assist in cleaning of the kitchen, including washing dish, silver, and cookware. 
  • Secure and lock walk-in coolers, refrigerators and make sure all equipment is turned off.
  • Stock supplies.
  • Store leftovers and unused food products by covering, labeling and dating items properly.
  • Work within a cycle menu program.
  • Drive to deliver food to off-site locations, when needed.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
  • Able to speak, read and write in English.
  • First-Aid, CPR, and/or BLS certified, preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience in food & beverage in a restaurant, health care or senior services setting.
  • One (1) year previous experience working with seniors.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including, but not limited to: weekends, evenings, holidays, and/or events.
  • Trained in safe food handling techniques and sanitation, ServSafe Card required.
  • Ability to follow basic instructions and carry out assignments independently.
  • Ability to interface appropriately with other staff, residents, family members, visitors and outside contractors.
  • Smart phone (for schedule updates and communication).
  • Reliable transportation.
