Ravago is Hiring a Maintenance technician Near Medina, OH

Objective / Purpose

Maintains and repairs physical structures, pipe and electrical systems, mechanical and hydraulic components of production machines and equipment, and machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and conveyor systems.

Sets up and operates variety of machine tools and fits and assembles parts to fabricate or repair machine tools and maintain industrial machines.

Areas of Responsibility / Tasks

Performance must reflect appropriate level of expertise and achievement of the desired results for the items listed below.

Level I Technician (General) :

  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
  • Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.
  • Removes and replaces worn or defective parts of drive mechanism or hydraulic system.
  • Locates damaged air and hydraulic pipes on machine, and measures, cuts, threads, and installs new pipe.
  • Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
  • Assists departments with requests including moving furniture and unloading and storing supplies.
  • Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Maintains time (preventive maintenance) and production records (general work orders) utilizing MPulse software.
  • Operates snow removal equipment to maintain sidewalks.
  • Operates and understands cutting torch or welding equipment at a basic level to cut or join metal parts.
  • Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures at a basic level.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as motors and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables at a basic level.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance & Safety Manager.

Level II Technician

  • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • installs new or repaired parts.
  • Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
  • Starts machines and equipment to test operation following repair.
  • Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
  • Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Maintains and repairs building's plumbing systems.
  • Creates project parts lists.
  • Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts; demonstrates proficiency and quality of work.
  • Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures; demonstrates proficiency and quality of work.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as motors and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables;

demonstrates proficiency and quality of work.

Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance & Safety Manager.

Safety Compliance

Maintain a safe working environment; Adhere to all OSHA and Company safety standards.

Environmental Compliance

  • Assist with facility Operation Clean Sweep compliance.
  • Assist with the repurpose and recycling of resources.

Communication

  • Keep management abreast of significant issues or developments that impact operations, quality, safety, health, or environmental.
  • Enters details completion records in MPulse and associated electronic storage.
  • Generate and identify Corrective Action reports and Opportunities for Improvement reports.
  • Follow all ISO requirements; ensure ISO documentation is current and adhered to.
  • Receives written and verbal instructions from Manager.

Minimum Qualifications / Education / Certifications

  • Education :
  • High School Diploma - preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in similar title and scope of responsibility - preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with clean MVR - required.

Level III Technician - certification from an accredited institution for welding technology AWS certification / 3G welding certification / 6G welding certification, carpentry, electrical, and computer (PLC) engineering - preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (with emphasis on Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint) and a capability to learn basic systems.

  • Familiarity with process mapping and basic quality processes preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and display analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage time, organize, and set priorities.
  • Detail oriented and well organized
  • Knowledge of pneumatic equipment, plumbing, general construction, welding, fabrication, hydraulic and mechanical equipment, electrical (up to 480v) control panels and PLC
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Work Environment / Conditions

The work environment / conditions described herein are representative of those that an incumbent may experience, and therefore must be adaptable to.

  • Must be comfortable working in a shared space, with constant noise, with / or without the use of a private office.
  • Schedules may vary from week to week based on business demands in excess of 40 hours with or without notice.
  • All injuries regardless of severity must be reported to your Supervisor / HR immediately.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to communicate verbally, read, and comprehend information.
  • On occasion the incumbent will perform repetitive motions that require constant grasping, holding, and frequent finger dexterity.
  • Frequently, the duties require color distinction, visual inspection, and measuring / assembling at distances close to the eye.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to travel by foot, forklift, golf cart, vehicle, or other means of transportation which require sitting, waiting, walking, and standing for long and short periods of time.
  • The duties will require constant lifting of a weight 30 lbs. and less, frequently 30-60 lbs., occasionally 60-85 lbs., and with assistance on a rare basis, over 85 lbs.
  • The duties will require occasional pushing and pulling up to 90 lbs.
  • On occasion, the duties may require bending, squatting, crawling, and reaching, climbing, and working in heights above 75 feet from ground level.
