Rasmussen University is growing! We are seeking a Simulation Tech who will provide support of the day-to-day operations within the nursing simulation space. This individual will be fully trained upon hire on the preparation, operation, and overall maintenance of all the nursing simulation lab equipment and supplies including simulators, manikins, control devices, and audio-visual equipment. This individual will work in collaboration with the National Simulation Director, Simulation Educators, faculty, and students to promote excellence in simulation education.

Responsibilities:

Simulation Center Operations – 80%

  • Assist with all nursing simulation room activities.
  • Prepare, set up, break down, clean up and restock the simulation rooms, VR, debrief rooms and additional teaching spaces before and after all nursing simulation lab activities.
  • Maintains nursing simulation lab equipment -manikins, simulators, task trainers, simpads, instructor PCs, monitors, VR technology - to the extent that these items are kept in good working condition for optimal utilization.
  • Support faculty with operation of equipment, providing hands-on training as needed.
  • Collaborates with the National Simulation Director to maintain records related to equipment warranties and maintenance plans.
  • Assists with coordinating regular maintenance and repair for all lab simulation equipment.
  • Once fully trained, will help provide learner and faculty orientation to others in the nursing simulation lab environment- including manikins, equipment, supplies, monitors, etc.
  • Track and maintain inventory and supplies.
  • Stores, receives, and stocks equipment and supplies.
  • Organizes and maintains storeroom environments, hallways, and control rooms.
  • Provide campus tours and community outreach events as requested.
  • Participates in nursing simulation lab training to remain competent in operating the nursing simulation lab equipment and standards of best practice in simulation education delivery.

Technology Support20%

  • Performs equipment software and firmware updates for the lab simulation equipment and technology.
  • Troubleshoots all simulation room technology; contacting vendor and campus technology support as needed.

Reporting Relationships:

The Simulation Tech reports directly to the Dean of Nursing and engages closely with the National Simulator Director. This role has no direct reports.

Requirements:

  • Professional certificate, diploma or applied associate’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Healthcare experience.
  • Strong desire to work in a lab environment with nursing students.
  • Beginner knowledge of the nursing concepts, terminology, and techniques.
  • Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to work Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with occasional evenings and weekends when needed.
  • Ability to learn from simulation educators how to set up simulation rooms and operate manikins.
  • Ability to learn from simulation educators how to set-up and use video equipment.
  • Ability to maintain safety and hygiene standards.
  • Ability to lift, move, up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • A plus to have Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (HSOS).
