Raritan Valley Community College is currently seeking Adjunct Instructors-Cultural Anthropology to work part-time in our Humanities, Social Sciences & Education Department for the 2023-2024 academic year and beyond.
Traditionally understood as the discipline that seeks to "make the strange familiar and the familiar strange," anthropologists' study human lives in order to make sense of a number of relationships: between the individual and society, structure and agency, and between ideas about the universal and the particular. This course is meant to introduce students to the field of anthropology by focusing on essential topics in cultural anthropology. It covers a broad range of topics and concepts seen as foundational to human experience such as religion, kinship, language, and social stratification. This course explores how culture operates in our daily lives and gives rise to difference, grounds similarity, and changes throughout time and space.
Positions are located on the Main RVCC Campus.
Master's Degree in related field is required.
Two years teaching experience is required; college level preferred.
