Location: Includes Virginia, Hibbing, and Ely – with primary service site in Hibbing

Range Mental Health Center is proud to be a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). The goals of the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics program in MN are to 1) increase access to community-based mental health and substance use disorder services (particularly to under-served communities), 2) advance integration of behavioral health with physical health care, and 3) improve utilization of evidence-based practices on a more consistent basis.

Position Summary:

As a health unit coordinator (HUC), your primary responsibilities are to perform a variety of administrative tasks that support our medical professionals. This will include welcoming patients, gathering appropriate information and forms, documenting data in electronic medical records, and offering support to clinical and non-clinical staff members as needed.

General Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Heath Unit Coordinators will work closely with the nursing staff to assess and monitor the needs and logistics to ensure the patients needs and care are conducted according to the facilities procedures by:
  • Communicates with patients, families, medical staff, and caregivers to guarantee smooth operations.
  • Triage phone calls and messages to appropriate staff.
  • Collect, update and file patient medical records within the EHR.
  • Coordinate with other departments, outside agencies, and referral sources.
  • Triage incoming or outgoing correspondence requests.
  • Schedule, modify and cancel patient appointments.
  • Assist with administrative aspects and relay patients concerns or questions to appropriate medical professional.
  • Maintain ordering of office supplies related to needs of the departments.
  • Adherence to organization code of conduct, maintaining appropriate communication and boundaries with other staff, patients, and outside agencies.
  • Other duties as assigned are consistent within the scope of practice, meeting the needs of the organization and patients.

Program Specific Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Regularly attend program, treatment, and staff meetings, providing recommendations for improvement in patient care, program services, organizational needs.
  • Collaborate with all inter-organizational departments to facilitate prompt and safe delivery of services to patients.
  • Communicate with other agencies including hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, social services, probation/ law enforcement, etc as appropriate and within privacy guidelines to facilitate prompt and safe referrals and delivery of care.
  • Flexibility to float to other programs/ services within the organization based on staffing needs and acuity of patients.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Willingness to provide exceptional customer service to our patients.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software.
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills. Willingness to engage in problem solving.
  • Collaborates well with others under challenging circumstances, maintains composure in response to difficult situations, respectful in all interactions.
  • Understanding of basic medical terminology

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-5 years previous experience in an administrative role (medical or behavioral industry) preferred.
  • CPR Certificate required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Adequate level of vision to use computer terminal.
  • Sufficient hearing to accurately record information received verbally.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
