Rancho Solano Preparatory School history teachers offer students classroom instruction that builds upon the national, state, local, and global history they’ve learned in earlier grades. Specifically, 7th grade historical focus is exploration through Civil War. The resources used are provided by TCI-Teacher's Curriculum Institute. Our history teachers help their students to move beyond rote memorization into critical analysis of historical events.
History teachers should be prepared to follow our collaboratively developed curriculum map designed so that all students are prepared to culminate in IB social studies courses. This position will also receive a stipend for planning and executing a grade level trip to Boston, Philadelphia, and Washinton D.C.
This position also serves as an advisor to a group of 7th students. Rancho teachers also supervise some after-school activities, organize and chaperone field trips, proctor a yearly standardized test, and frequently communicate with parents verbally and in writing.
Skill Set Requirements
· Ability to teach in a blended adaptive learning environment/classroom
· Comprehensive knowledge of Project based learning and Outcome Curriculum Mapping
· Comprehensive knowledge of curriculum and instruction within appropriate content area
· Ability to function as a student achievement advocate and advisor
· Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
· Highly developed presentation skills
· Effective organizational skills including but not limited to unit planning, differentiating instruction, designing and implementing assessments
· Ability to monitor student progress and report information in a timely manner
· Ability to mentor and coach students
· Ability to prioritize and to expand allotted resources in alignment with stated academic priorities
Responsibilities
· Exercise good classroom management with the use of fair and consistent standards that are clearly articulated to the students
· Know and use a wide range of assessment strategies consistent with course content and objectives
· Provide reports on student progress and maintain open communication with ensuring reports are accurate and constructive
· Differentiate instruction and assessment to meet the diverse needs of the students
· Provide a safe, stimulating, and challenging learning environment
· Attend functions in support of school and community
Position
· Bachelor’s degree required in Education or field related to subject matter taught
· Some teaching experience preferred
· Full time beginning July 2024, for the 2024-2025 school year
· Salary-based upon local job market, education, and experience
