Ramsey County Bar Association Placement Service is Hiring a Legal Sections Program Manager Near Minneapolis, MN

TITLE: Sections Program Manager

REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Section Services
NON-EXEMPT: Full-time or Part-time available
LOCATION: Hybrid - M/W/F work from home, T/Th in-office

ORGANIZATION SUMMARY:
The Minnesota State, Hennepin County and Ramsey County Bar Associations are professional, non-profit, voluntary statewide membership organizations located in Minneapolis and St Paul, Minnesota, with membership of over 13,000 attorneys. The Associations serve members’ needs by advancing professionalism, ethical conduct, diversity, competence, practice development, and collegiality within the legal profession. They also serve the public at large by striving to ensure fairness and accessibility to the courts, promoting public understanding and confidence in the legal system, and working to improve the administration of justice. The Associations have a staff of 40 employees.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Section Program Manager works directly with member attorneys throughout the state to advance substantive areas of the law, provide legal education, and promote relationship building and collegiality among peers in specific practice areas. This position provides staffing for educational and networking events, in addition to support for the leadership, governance and budgets of practice area sections to help them achieve their goals. Section Program Managers are a part of the Section Services Team, reporting to the Senior Director of Section Services. You will be successful in this position if you are detail-oriented, can work independently, enjoy meeting new people, are calm under pressure, are technologically savvy, and are able to thoughtfully manage competing priorities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop positive working relationships with section representative attorneys and leaders
  • Prepare for monthly section council meetings by reviewing minutes, following up with members, drafting the agenda, and circulating materials in advance. Attend all meetings and participate as needed.
  • Develop successful processes to keep informed of section activities and communicate appropriate information to staff
  • Provide quality, timely customer service to members
  • Handle all aspects of assigned section meeting planning, including event planning, preparing email marketing campaigns, posting meeting notices to the website, preparing the conference room technology (or virtual Zoom technology), registration and responding to the needs of registrants and section leaders
  • Develop processes to ensure success of section initiatives and that proper internal section and accounting procedures are followed
  • Assist with coordination of section membership promotions with Marketing Department
  • Collaborate with other members of the Section Services Team, and the entire Bar Association staff, to deliver outstanding service to attorneys in Minnesota

QUALIFICATIONS – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Engaging with guests/visitors/patrons
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Time and project management experience – ability to calmly manage and complete multiple projects in a timely fashion
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Meeting planning experience a plus
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Good judgment and initiative
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Zoom
  • Flexibility - Ability to work extra hours and a varied schedule at certain times of the year. Occasional evenings.
  • Ability to travel to meetings, some in greater Minnesota
