Job Description

Position Summary:

Designs cylinders based on customer drawings, sketches and other applicable specifications or verbal instructions.

Position Specific Requirements:

  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications. Design products to meet all requirements.
  • Perform preliminary and advanced work in development of working layouts (2D & 3D) and final drawings adequate for detailing parts and units of design for new proposals and current designs.
  • Perform calculations required to adequately select materials and processing requirements.
  • Directly communicate with customers concerning material and lead time for cylinders in process.
  • Interact with vendors and customers on engineering design issues for various stages of development. Understand and respond to customer requests, both written and verbal.
  • Participate in meetings and presentations with customers to understand and define their needs. Assist in preparing quotes.
  • Evaluate and process all changes and problems related to product design.
  • Communicate with Purchasing, Quality, Sales, and Production regarding issues related to problems or improvements.
  • Maintains drawing file and keeps up to date as design changes occur.
  • Finate Element Analysis (FEA) understanding and experience.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent from a four-year college. (Required)
  • Strong knowledge and experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks 3D Modeling; five to seven years in OEM Mobile Hydraulic Equipment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and strength of materials.
  • Solid modeling and manufacturing experience (Required)
  • 10 years of work experience in Manufacturing Design Engineering (Preferred).

  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision ability required includes close, distance, color, and peripheral vision. Depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
