Raleigh Ophthalmology is actively recruiting an Appointment Coordinator to join its growing team. Spanish speaking is preferable.

The appointment coordinator greets incoming callers in a friendly and courteous manner, interacts politely and provides prompt assistance to callers. Answer, screen and triage a high volume of incoming calls. Check appointment availability across three sites and schedules patients accordingly. Assist with appointment cancellations and rescheduling. Perform all preregistration duties for new patients prior to making an appointment, including entering all demographics, verify and enter insurance information and inform patients of any charges or fee’s due based on the appointment type. Provide clear and courteous instructions to the caller on where the appointment was scheduled and what documents to bring to the appointment.
Take inbound calls for current and potential new patients.2. Knowledge of major medical insurance plans, Managed Care Plans, Medicare and Medicaid and other NC coverage and benefits,3. Reschedule appointments and manage the reminder notice process.4. Work fax and electronic Proficient referrals when necessary5. Make follow-up calls when necessary and follow-up on messages promptly.6. Oral communication skills to receive and convey information clearly and concisely7. Good interpersonal skills to interact effectively with callers.8. Ability to verify insurance coverage using practice management system.9. Ability to type with speed and accuracy 45 wpm10. Answers multiple incoming calls in a timely manner and routing calls to the proper area of the clinic.11. Verifies any demographic changes and updates them in the system.12. Ability to multi-task and work alone or as part of a team13. Ability to set priorities and organize workload to optimize efficiency14. Some knowledge of medical terminology - Preferred 15. Assumes additional duties as assigned by the Office Manager.
High school diploma or GED.• 2-3 years of experience in a customer service role in a healthcare setting. • Customer service training, aptitude, and presentation, on the phone and in person• Excellent communication and people skills.• Prior call center experience preferred.Rev. 2022/23• Ophthalmology experience a plus.• Knowledge of Electronic Healthcare Records software.
